    Bed bugs in our bed!!!

    rating22 Sept 2025

In the middle of the night we found Bed bugs in our Bed. We had to kill them (all with blood) and we had to empty the suitcases, to check all the clothes. We went down to the reception and the nice guy changed our room but in the morning the manager was nothing cooperative. As you may understand this is not a 400€ room standard. I attach the pictures. Do not come to this hotel. It is terrible

Great location, clean, comfortable and friendly

    rating01 Sept 2025

The Berjaya Hotel is in a greta location, right down on the waterfront in Hof'n where it has stunning views and is a 5 minute walk from pretty much all of the dining options and a supermarket. This is important as the hotel does not have it's own restaurant (although it does offer a breakfast). The staff were really friendly and helpful, although there is only 1 on duty most of the time to be front desk, telephone operator, run the bar, prepare rooms and anything else. This is not their fault, of course, but is down to the hotel management and led to an hour or more delay in making the room for our children uo as a Twin bed (which had been requesteda and ackknowledged when booking). This was not a problem as it was done whilst we went out for dinner and the staff member was quite apologetic that he would not be able to get to it straight away, explaining the staffing situation to us. A plus side of the hotel not having it's own dinner service was that it was quite acceptable to bring takeway food (we got excellent burgers from Hafnarbudin) and sit in the lobby / bar area or, as the weather was amazing when were were there, out on the decking area which was lovely. The breakfast starts a little later (7:30am) than other places we stayed and consequently we didn't use it as it was too late for us to drive to our booked activities however, a Costa coffee and a pastry from the N1 petrol station on the way out of town was more than adequate for us. None of the issues that I have mentioned stopped this from being and excellent place to stay for 2 nights whilst we explored the Skaftafell National Park.

    Ridiculously overpriced

    rating27 Jul 2025

Ridiculously overpriced ! When we arrived the Indian impression of the hotel was quite good due to its location on the edge of town overlooking the sea and the distant glacier. We checked in and were told we were on the second floor but there wasn’t a lift so we had to lug our suitcases up the stairs ourselves (both in our 60s). The room was small with an even smaller bathroom and had no air conditioning or even a bin. As we were facing the sea the room got very warm in the evening and the little window that opened had to be wedged with the no smoking sign as it kept closing. Beds were ok and the room was clean. Breakfast again was ok. This is a 2 star standard motel pretending to be better and cost us over £500 for one night which is vastly overpriced even by Icelandic standards. Very basic accommodation at five star hotel prices

    Gorgeous location but mediocre room

    rating16 Jul 2025

The location of this hotel is wonderful. The lobby and breakfast areas are absolutely beautiful! The rooms are somewhat small and very warm. There was one small window that helped a lot with air flow. The walls were also thin and we could hear other guests in the hallway and the room next to us. All staff were so friendly and quick to assist! Breakfast had good options and they were constantly refilling items!
