    Lovely Reykjavik

Excellent value for money. Room is clean and comfy. Breakfast is plentiful. Location is very close to the main attractions and has paid parking if you're renting a car. Fosshótel Barón – Probably Not for Everyone

    rating27 May 2026

Fosshótel Barón has a very good location close to the waterfront and within walking distance of Reykjavík’s main attractions, but overall it was really not my cup of tea.The hotel feels quite dated in many areas and the atmosphere lacked the comfort and style you might expect in Iceland considering the price levels. Rooms were basic and some parts of the property could definitely use renovation and modernization.Breakfast was acceptable and staff were generally polite, but the overall experience simply did not match expectations. There are many better accommodation options in Reykjavík depending on your budget.Tips: the location is convenient for walking around the city, but if atmosphere, modern design or a more premium experience are important to you, it may be worth looking at other hotels. Malgorzata B, Guest Services / Front Office at Fosshotel Baron, responded to this review Dear Sightseer38130500114,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you appreciated the hotel’s central location and found our staff polite and breakfast acceptable. At the same time, we’re sorry that the overall experience and room condition did not meet your expectations. Your input is valuable to us.We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.Best regards, Malgorzata Front Desk Manager Fosshotel Baron

    Small rooms and bathrooms

    rating26 May 2026

I’ll start with the good - it was a place to sleep and had a great breakfast with many choices. 5/5Now to the bad - the room was small. Still ok to maneuver around but barely any space to open your luggage and we only had carry on bags. The carpet was worn and looked pretty dirty since it was so old. There were a lot of dark spots on the orange carpet. Now to the bathroom-it was also small but the issue was the shower. It was a shower with a shower curtain that pulled all around but when you turn on the shower the curtains all pull on so you would hit the curtain anytime you moved. It grossed me out. There were also lamps near each twin bed which sounds good in thought but bad in execution as it kept hitting it. I would not stay here again. Not sure if they have different more updated rooms but I did not get one. Malgorzata B, Guest Services / Front Office at Fosshotel Baron, responded to this review Dear Angela,Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the breakfast and appreciated the variety offered. We’re sorry to hear that the room and bathroom did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding the room size, carpet condition, and shower design have been noted and will be shared with our team as we continue to improve our guest experience.Best regards, Malgorzata Front Desk Manager Fosshotel Baron

Great hotel with a great location

    rating20 May 2026

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fosshotel Baron. Great location with a 15 minute walk to Harpa, the best shopping road only two blocks away. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Rainbow Road and the Cathedral are only a 15 to 20 minute walk. The Hop On Hop Off bus stop 7 is only 800 feet from the hotel. Our room was large and had a separate bedroom for the grandkids. There was a mini-refrigerator. The bathroom was small, but adequate. Breakfast was very good and they have a small bar area with a Happy Hour. Tours can be booked from the hotel website. We will stay here again on our next trip to Iceland. Malgorzata B, Guest Services / Front Office at Fosshotel Baron, responded to this review Dear jrhales77,Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you and your family enjoyed the location, spacious room, breakfast, and nearby attractions during your stay at Fosshotel Baron. It’s great to hear the separate bedroom worked well for your grandkids too. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Iceland!Best regards, Malgorzata Front Desk Manager Fosshotel Baron
