  What a nice little place! The apartment had everything you'd need. Neat and clean. Washer and dryer right outside your room. The building was secure, a very safe place to stay. Within walking distance to a grocery store. Since it's very expensive to eat out in Iceland, we did have some meals in our apartment. It had everything for basic meal prep and a dishwasher! Peaceful, quiet rooms. Very convenient location.

  Very dirty and worn

  We entered by key and in the 4 days of our stay we did not see any of the staff around the facilities. Sofas and carpets in common areas very dirty. There are washer and dryer stations on each floor but after 6PM they start turning off the equipment even if your clothes are inside half washed or dried. They even disconnected the electricity so you could not use the washer and dryer (This was reported from the first day and they did nothing, they did not even respond). The rooms are small and very dirty. They didn't even bother to make the bed. The walls were full of holes from blows. The sofa was filthy and the armchair still had foot marks on it. In some places in Iceland, when you use the hot water there can be a faint smell of rotten eggs, but here it was over the top, to a level that was vomitous.

  This place might work if their doorknobs worked. But when the doorknobs don't work... you will pay anyway.

  We booked one night at Icelandic Apartments for June 25, 2025. We submitted the check-in form and were given room 603 with ac access code. We arrived after midnight. Tried the code exactly as instructed—it didn’t work. Tried again. Nothing. Stood outside the front door, re-entered the code multiple times, re-read the instructions. Still didn’t work.At 1:29 a.m. Iceland time, we sent an email to the address provided and replied via the Priceline booking thread: “HELP! The code is not working!” No response. We also called both Heimaleiga support numbers listed in the instructions: +354 449 4904 and +354 449 4903. Neither line worked. No voicemail. No one picked up.Now it’s close to 2 a.m., we’re outside with luggage and no way into the property. We started calling nearby hotels. We called 15 in total. 12 were fully booked. We ended up booking one of the last 3 with availability—and chose the cheapest option, even though it was double the price of our original reservation.We just got a note from Priceline that we won't be refunded for our "canceled" reservation.To summarize:We followed all instructions.The code didn’t work.No one responded.Support lines were non-functional.We found and booked a new hotel at 2 a.m.It cost us twice as much.Heimaleiga refused to help.If everything goes smoothly, maybe this place is fine. But if anything goes wrong, you are 100% on your own—and they won’t make it right.I wish any future user of this property the best of luck. You will need luck, yes, luck, to make this place work for you. Bonne chance.

  Shocking - would never stay there again!

  Overall, our stay was a painful two night one.Firstly, some room inclusions listed were incorrect:- no full size fridge/freezer (small bar fridge only)- no electric kettle, (just a traditional one that was broken)- no washer/dryer in room (central one was partially out of action)Lots of missing/damaged items:- quilt and bath towel for just 1 person, despite being QS bed. Still had pillows for two though- quilt not wide enough for two (it didn't fit across the bed - it was a single)- we found a 2nd quilt, we had to scrounge another towel and cover, and fit it ourselves- the bed barely fit between the walls - there was no room to get out of bed 1 side- head injury hazards from bed shelves above the bed and the lamps because of how you had to get out of bed- to avoid all this, we had to sleep in reverse (heads at the feet end, feet at head ends)- bed lamp broken- light switch continually fell off- no teaspoons- ceiling panel missing- almost no TV available - supposedly there was Satellite TV but it didn't work.There wasn't a space issue either - 41sqm was just poorly used.Despite the number of apartments, there is no reception onsite. We had no delays getting in, but I did see a customer working over the intercom for over 30 mins trying to access their room.We did complain via Hotels.com but neither they nor the provider wanted to help.We don't normally complain about stuff like this, but this was awful.Avoid room 503! Better still, stay elsewhere!

  Close to the Icelandic capital, it turned out to be a good option. This accommodation does not have a reception. The day before we arrived we were given codes to open the door to the building and the apartment. We stayed on the third floor, with a very beautiful, unobstructed view. What's missing from the apartment? Toaster.I'd like to stay here again!
