    Cheap, wonderful location, bad for socializing and gross bathrooms.

    Location is right at the coast and downtown is like 2 minutes away so very wonderful. The service is nice. The dorms are ok. The toilets in the other hand are so gross. The atmosphere is not very welcoming either, as I imagined that people would socialize in hostels but 90% of the guests were Chinese tourists that either were on their pc/phone the entire time and generally people didn’t welcome strangers and mostly stayed in their circle. All in all, the KEX hostel is good for cheap sleeping, but for socializing I’d recommend going to the clubs or similar.

    "The house always wins" mentality at a premium price.

    If an issue arises, the blame is quickly shifted to the guest rather than management taking accountability.I had a malfunctioning door that forced me to change rooms. During this process, staff left the door to my room wide open, leaving all my personal belongings completely exposed for anyone to walk in and take. To make matters worse, day after staff threw away all of my toiletries. Their reasoning was that personal items "should not linger" and must be kept in a locker, even though my things had been out for less than 20 hours. While the frontline staff members try to be helpful, they are only allowed to apply band-aid patches to problems rather than providing true solutions. For the high prices they charge, guests expect genuine customer service. When addressed my grievances, the excuse I was given was, "We're understaffed."While sympathize with the workers, management's staffing shortage is not my problem. Because of their poor organization, I was the one inconvenienced, and the situation should have been properly fixed and compensated, not brushed off with excuses.

    Beware of the Renos and rude staff!

    Half the building is closed. You’ll be woken up by renovation works. The bathrooms have sewerage smells coming out of them. Staff don’t care about problems and are rude. Beds are comfy. But it’s in a decent walking location uphill to restaurants and things. The best thing about this hostel is that if you are aware of northern lights, you can run out the door to see them.

    Stay awaythis Hostel is a fraud, they rob your money and not offer you service, i have had worst experience with them. They are absolute joke.

    Trendy, hipster-style hostel inside an old factory. Comfy rooms, live music at the bar, and ocean views. Relaxed and creative atmosphere, full of interesting travelers.
