  Good economical choice

  We stayed here our second night in Iceland. The room was very clean, although not the most modern/up to date. The shower was a bit confusing to use and the adjustable shower head was broken/height could not be adjusted. Otherwise, we appreciated the large size of the room, ample closet space, swivel tv, black-out curtains, available elevator, and free included parking. Breakfast was not included with our room so I cannot speak to that.

  Hotel Selfoss was Happy Surprise during Iceland explorations

  I have such wonderful things to say about Hotel Selfoss! It was a happy surprise!We switched hotels 6 times over 9 nights as we traveled from Reykjavik to Hofn and back again. Hotel Selfoss was hotel #5.First, heated bathroom floors are a revelation! Outstanding upgrade. And the bathroom was big too, and such a smart design to have an large area to place your items behind the sink area. I don't remember shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom, but that didn't bother me because I brought my own. The river/bridge view from our room was beautiful! And parking was free for hotel guests. No need to pay in app.The TV worked at this hotel. We got a couple stations. That was not the case at every hotel we stayed at.And free breakfast was great. My boyfriend was disappointed there was no cappuccino machine, but we made up for it by adding the available whipped cream to regular coffee. I personally enjoyed the oatmeal. I didn't try the cod liver oil, but it was an option for those who are interested. We did not try the onsite spa or hot tub, but we did get a welcome email informing us of their availability. Hotel Selfoss is a Great Value! And the staff is WONDERFUL and very accommodating. A shout-out to Nina for searching for my lost item. I truly appreciate her efforts. You went above and beyond! I would suggest to anyone traveling to Iceland to try to spend at least 1 night at this hotel if you can.

  A Peaceful Gem by the River

  Hotel Selfoss surprised us in the best possible way. Set right on the banks of the Ölfusá river, the views alone are worth the stay — especially in the evening light. The design is modern and clean without feeling cold, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped.The staff were friendly and efficient, and the restaurant on site is genuinely good — fresh ingredients, solid Icelandic flavours, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger over dinner.Location-wise, Selfoss is a perfect base for exploring the south of Iceland. The Golden Circle, Þórsmörk, and the south coast waterfalls are all within easy reach, making this an ideal stopover for travellers rather than just a place to sleep.Great value, great views, great service. Highly recommended.

  Extremely noisy. Worst hotel in our trip to Iceland

  This may have been the worst hotel of our entire trip around Iceland.Not because the rooms are bad, but because the place feels like a huge nightclub (at least on the Saturday night when we stayed there).There was extremely loud music from the nightclub that could be heard even in the rooms on the 4th floor, people having their own parties in the hallways with music, drinking and smoking, and when all of this was reported to reception, the response was simply “it’s Saturday,” with no intention of doing anything about it.And so what? We booked a hotel, not a nightclub in Ibiza!!!I strongly advise against staying here if you value rest and peace and quiet.
