    Very Very Disappointing Stay - Billing Issues and Inconsistent Service

    I was extremely disappointed with my stay, mainly due to billing issues and inconsistent service.1. Double Charge IssueI was charged twice for my stay, even though my Booking.com reservation clearly stated that I would pay at the property. The hotel charged my card days before checkout without informing me, and then charged me again at checkout.When I contacted them afterward to request a refund, they did not resolve the issue despite multiple follow-ups over five days. I ultimately had to dispute the charge through my credit card company. This was very frustrating and left me feeling misled.2. Service ConcernsBreakfast service was inconsistent. One staff member was noticeably unfriendly toward me, although she seemed pleasant with others, which made me uncomfortable. Several mornings, the hot water was yellow, tainted from coffee. 3. Noise and Room AssignmentI was first placed in a room on the 4th floor directly under the restaurant. Noise continued until around 10pm every night, and the soundproofing was poor, making it difficult to sleep. After raising the issue, I was eventually moved to a quieter room.4. Cleanliness IssuesHousekeeping often missed basic tasks like restocking bottled water. I also noticed bugs on the walls in my room, which was disappointing for the price point.Overall: I had originally planned not to write a review, but the unresolved double charge and lack of communication afterward were concerning enough that I felt other travelers should be aware.

    We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is definitely the highlight — right in the centre and within short walking distance of Sultanahmet Tram station (though be prepared for some slight steep streets). It’s also only about 5 minutes from the Havaist airport bus stop, which made arrival and departure very convenient.The hotel itself is small but adequate. I’m not convinced it matches a 4-star standard, but it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The rooftop terrace was lovely.Most of the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. However, one young lady working at breakfast consistently came across cold and disengaged, and unfriendly, which stood out against otherwise warm service.Overall, I would stay here again mainly for the great location, convenience to transport and the generally friendly team, plus that charming terrace.Improvement ideas, the fridge in the room was very dirty and smelly and should be replaced. Taking the key card out should not stop the fridge working. Ensure all lighting and telephone should be checked and in working order before guest arrival or fixed when reported.

    I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was extremely small and looked nothing like the photos advertised online. Parts of the ceiling plaster had fallen down, and the shower head had almost no water pressure when switched to hot water.I was placed on the fourth floor and, unfortunately, directly above me was the restaurant. In the mornings it served breakfast, and in the evenings it turned into a cocktail bar. The noise was unbearable — chairs and tables constantly being dragged around and overall no sense of sound control. It was impossible to relax or sleep properly.The only positive aspects were the location, which was conveniently close to major attractions, and the breakfast buffet, which was decent but lacked variety.Overall, I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

    Great location and character, but there are many better hotels in Istanbul

    I stayed at this property for 5 nights recently and really liked how authentic and "local" it felt. It couldn't be in a better location (within 10 minutes stroll from the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque). The room itself was compact but relatively well equipped, enough for a solo traveller.Breakfast, although free as part of the room rate, isn't worth having. Really poor selection and staff were slow to top up. Found staff to be a bit surly too, not rude but not particularly hospitable either. I stayed on the 4th floor and it was extremely noisy. Next to no soundproofing, and being directly below the restaurant meant you heard everything until 2-3am most nights. Bring earplugs if you're in a 4th floor room! Overall, it's a disappointing hotel. A shame as there is so much potential, and it is a locally owned property. I only gave it 3 stars for the location. If they improve their breakfast offerings, soundproof their rooms and are warmer/friendlier to paying guests; the sky is the limit. For now, I'd recommend anyone coming to Istanbul and wanting to stay in Sultanhamet to look elsewhere.

    This hotel only has ONE good feature.... location. Other than that, I cannot recommend. Staff are miserable especially in the breakfast room. We had to constantly ask for things such as bread, tea machine, extra food. The 'hot' food in the metal box was cold and looked unappetising. When we checked in, we were offered a room with inadequate air-conditioning. It was ridiculously hot. The rusty fridge didn't work either nor did the safe. It was a disaster. After some negotiation we were finally offered another room. There was no view from the window just a brick wall so we kept the curtains closed. It was so small, literally just space to get into bed but at least the air-conditioning worked.This hotel is barely a 2 star in my personal opinion but the location is very good for the Blue Mosque area. Be warned though, due to the countries economic climate, you WILL be constantly hassled by restaurant and bar staff. As a regular visitor to Turkey, I've seen it getting worse.
