Our go to place when staying Ubud

    rating08 Sept 2025

Have stayed here many times on our visits to Ubud. Location is perfect on Monkey Forest road and a few minute walk to the main hub of Ubud. Old style rooms with lovely gardens. Staff are friendly and courteous and nothing is an issue. We love the breakfeast supplied in the morning. While not extensive it is perfect for us. We will continue to visit whenever in Ubud.

I didn’t liked that they caved birds all alone with no chance of a worthy life. They couldn’t fly or live. It was terrible to watch. Same with the big fishes swimming around so crowded. This is unfortunately what us in Sweden would call animal abuse. I wish that Cedana could give the birds to a animal sanctuary..

Traditional hotel in the heart of Ubud

    rating13 Jul 2025

I stayed in 5 different hotels in Ubud and this one was my favourite. It is an older, traditional style hotel with lovely gardens and overlooks the rice fields. There are 2 swimming pools, with plenty of loungers. There is a restaurant and spa on-site. I did not use the spa, so can't comment. The location is so perfect, right on Monkey Forest Road, but once you are inside the property, you don't hear the noise from the road. The pool at the bottom of the property overlooks rice fields.I stayed in room 321 which overlooks the first pool. The room was quite dark but this meant it was nice and cool during the day. The towels and bedding were clean and fresh-smelling. There are signs in the room that you can put up if you want the staff to change the towels and/or bedding. They are trying to be eco-concious and I think it's great. There was mosquito plug-in plus tablets provided - very convenient. The water pressure in the shower was not great. They provided hand towels, whch is something that most hotels don't seem to do and I was very appreciative of that. The WiFi was good. Beautiful, friendly staff. We had a troop of monkeys visit us one morning; which was a bit unnerving but they ventured off quite quickly. Now the big thing: the NOISE from the club next door. While I was aware that there might be noise, based on previoius reviews, I honestly did not think it would be as loud as it was. It sounded as if the DJ was standing outside my door. The first night I was awake until 2am, and the next 2 nights, probably till about 1am. Having said that, I stayed in the very first block, which I think gets the most noise. I think if you stayed down towards the bottom, it might be less. But even so, I still rate this hotel as my best one - despite the noise.

    Highly recommend

    rating09 Jul 2025

I cannot recommend the Cendana Resort highly enough and look forward to staying there again! It is centrally located in the downtown area, but a quiet oasis away from the busy shops, spas & restaurants that line Monkey Forest Road. The gardens are beautifully manicured with pathways, little bridges, waterfalls & ponds full of koi fish & even a turtle! The serene infinity pool & restaurant with great food overlook the rice fields and you may even see a cheeky monkey or 2. The rooms & bathrooms are large, clean, beautifully furnished and have the most comfortable king size bed. Lastly, every single staff member from the gardeners, restaurant, cleaners & reception plus the manager/owner were all exceptional and very welcoming! You won't be disappointed staying at this tranquil Ubud gem of a hotel.

    Beautiful relaxing resort

    rating01 Apr 2025

I stayed here with my daughter for 3 nights . It’s perfectly situated in the middle of ubud - 15mins walk to the sacred Monkey Forrest .Initially we were placed in a traditional Balinese wooden room, however the roof was leaking due to heavy down pours. We were upgraded at no extra charge to a little private gardened bungalow which was incredibly comfortable. The gardens are beautiful one of the pools is infinity which overlooks a rice field. Reception has a large fish pond to the side with 2 beautiful minor birds that chat away to you! The only disappoint was the breakfast for me, it wasn’t buffet style the choice was American breakfast or continental. There was no option outside of these. I would however return to this resort if you want relaxation then this will ideal
