Worst Property, All photos are Edited and Fake

    rating24 May 2026

Our stay at this villa in Ubud was honestly very disappointing. The property looked extremely shabby and poorly maintained compared to the pictures shown online. The bathroom door was broken, which made it very inconvenient and uncomfortable during the stay. There were mosquitoes everywhere inside the villa, making it difficult to relax or sleep peacefully. On top of that, the paint and colour from the walls were peeling off in many areas, giving the entire property an old and neglected appearance. Cleanliness and maintenance were clearly not taken seriously. The overall ambiance was far from what we expected for a relaxing Ubud stay. The property urgently needs renovation and proper upkeep. Definitely not worth the price paid, and we would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made

    Mould & Run down

    rating14 Feb 2025

My room was out the back it absolutely reeked of mould. After 2 days we asked to shift rooms, first response was we will clean the room. The young lad comes out with bleach & fly spray. Not sure what that was going to do other than give me a bigger headache. We told them if they didn’t fix it we would want a refund and move somewhere else. After staff ringing their boss I was given another room. The next day they had workers there removing the bamboo ceiling. So the owner knew of this health hazard. My friend had a room & the air conditioner didn’t work properly. After another day they had a new one installed. Air conditioning was not good in a couple of the rooms. We only got to use the pool one day as we’re told it will be fixed tomorrow, we stayed 10 nights. (Too long)The place is full of mould & needs a good clean it’s very run down. The young staff members were very friendly & always happy. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

Old hotel - not equally with their selling price

    rating29 May 2024

Wrong room check-in at beginning. The room is too old and facilities (TV, hair dryer, safety box, stairs) are poor quality. - The safety box cannot use battery, you have to open by key- TV is old version- Hair dryer is weak and useless.- Wifi is unstable and so weak.- The room is pretty clean, but towel and curtain are dirty.- The value of money is not equally with what you received in this hotel. If the facility in your room has problem, you cannot change it or the staff cannot fix because they do not have any stand-by items.Staff is nice, but they’re not professional. They cannot solve your issue, except say “I’m sorry”. I think staff cannot do anything with the poor facility like this. The owner should have a serious maintenance for their property.

    Modernisation needed desperately

    rating03 Apr 2023

Upon arriving at Chili Cottage we were impressed with location, surroundings and wonderful hospitality of the staff. We were a family of 4 and booked into the large family cottage with 2 bedrooms. It was evident upon entering that the cottage was dated and needed a major renovation especially the bathroom which was dirty, infested with insects and it's drainage stank. The beds were comfortable, but linen was stained and pillows were very stiff. The swimming pool also required some attention as tiles were falling of.The breakfast was simple but tasty- including a fresh juice or fruit platter, eggs or pancakes. The major benefits of the cottage was the location as it is behind monkey forest, there are plenty of low key, family friendly restaurants and massage parlours in minutes walking distance. (A family favourite was Black Sheep- amazing pizzeria and bakery). To walk into town took just 10 minutes along an extremely busy dirt path which ran alongside monkey forest. It was an interesting rat run of dodging monkeys, motorbikes and other pedestrians. We would consider returning to the area, but would not return to the cottages until assured that the properties were well maintained. We recognise that the price of accomodation is extremely reasonable, but would suggest for continued positive reviews and sustainability that the resort considers a renovation and price increase.
