Soak up the history smack bang in the centre of Cordoba

    rating27 Apr 2026

Excellent welcome, with tips and map provided. Right in the shadow of the cathedral absolute central walk to everything made more special by Semana Santa processions. Unique period property. Again front desk helped with taxi for my early departure. It was appreciated as I had been sick all night.

    Shabby and smelly.

I booked for two nights, on the basis of the great location, the characterful decor and a decent price. Unfortunately I only stayed for one night as I couldn't face another night there. The room was very small, dark and shabby, and there was a very bad smell coming from the bathroom. I thought if I kept the bathroom door closed it would be ok. I noticed there was no kettle in the room, and asked if they could provide one for the morning. I was informed they don't have kettles but I could get hot water from the cafe next door! After my day and evening in Cordoba I returned for the night to find the smell from the bathroom filling the room. I had to keep the window open to reduce the smell, however my room was on the ground floor directly off the patio area, so as a woman on my own I didn't feel entirely safe with the window open. The noise from other guests returning was very loud, I could hear every cough and conversation through the walls. Every time a toilet flushed or a tap was running the pipework was noisy. After eventually getting to sleep, I woke after a couple of hours, to an even worse smell from the bathroom. I was literally retching it was so bad. I decided there and then there was no way I was going to stay a second night. Even while showering in the morning the smell was disgusting. I didn't bother with the breakfast, which is served in the cafe next door, not in the hotel itself. Fortunately I found a room in a much better hotel around the corner. I asked for a refund of the second night but was refused. They made some excuses about the sewers in the street causing the smell. No apology or any attempt to make amends. I was too tired to argue after the terrible night's sleep so left it at that. Don't be taken in by the charming old building and quaint decor. This is definitely not a hotel to recommend.

    3 night break

This old hotel is in a perfect central location. However this makes it very noisy at night. The noise from other guests through the walls and the noise from the bar next door doesn't help either. The rooms are small and there isn't a lot of storage or hanging space. The bathroom was also very small and without a window. However the beds were relatively comfortable and we had a decent breakfast there with good coffee.3 nights is certainly enough in my opinion. It is a quaint historic hotel but not sure that i would return.

    Needs improving

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a package arranged by a travel agent. Firstly I’d like to say the location is unbeatable . Right opposite the Mesquita and very near the Roman Bridge but that’s where the positives end. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by robotic members of staff that obviously follow the same welcome routine to everyone , that is grab a map and mark out the points of interest , useful but with no warmth . The lobby was not particularly clean and smelt very strongly of some indescribable aroma , not pleasant. The inner courtyard was charming but did not feel like a place to linger due to lack of comfortable seats . Our room was on the first floor and was quite small and unbelievably hot and stuffy , we had no choice but to open the windows and the door to try and ventilate the room. We were told by staff the A/C wasn’t available yet . The furniture was antique in style but the room felt very dark . Unfortunately the bathroom really was poor , very small and cramped , the toilet was very scruffy and needed replacing and there was little hot water and nowhere to put your wash bag . In addition the towels were completely threadbare and should never have been used . Breakfast was basic but ok for the price . A young lady on reception was quite sweet and booked a cab for us when we left . This hotel could be really amazing if it was modernised and re furbished , it has so much potential Very disappointed .

    Old Hotel right by Mezquita

    rating19 Feb 2025

Lovely old building, very welcoming staff and great breakfast buffet. Our standard room was huge, with a sofa as well as a middle-size (not massive) double bed and decent bathroom. Only issue, the room was very warm and we could not make the A/C work. The windows open onto the covered patio so didn't really help to open them. Not a huge problem as we were there in February but would be brutal in summer.
