    Disappointing stay.

    Decided to book this Hotel after reading many good reviews.On arrival we were shown to our accommodation. There are 8 rooms divided into 2 blocks. One has been partially refurbished, the other not. Our room was in the block that had not been refurbished and the room rate is the same. The block has damp issues which are apparent by the musty smell on entering the room. The bedding and towels were damp. The T.V, and safe did not work. One balcony chair was seriously wobbly and the cushions had dirty stains on them. The balcony roof had two leaks dripping onto the floor area and chairs. There were no plastic liners in the waste bins, in particular the bathroom where sanitary and personal items may be deposited. There were lots of unsightly stains on the tiled floor in the room due to acidic cleaner being spilt. The Wifi worked ok and the view from the balcony was pleasant.On request we were moved the following day to the refurbed block. Although improved, there were still issues with the T.V not working for our duration of stay, ripped balcony cushion, black stains on the towels, and again damp bedding. shower door not able to fully close, water flooding out of the shower cubicle and toilet cistern continually running supply water.The establishment is set back from the road and is relatively peaceful, there are some nice old Balinese buildings present and a very nice garden area. The swimming pools tiles were green / yellow in large areas and foreign objects on the bottom of the pool. The edges of the pool had black moist patches of mold on them. The water clarity was murky. This was certainly the worst pool i have encountered in Asia.The Hotel clearly has maintenance issues and needs some overseeing of the general running of the business.We left after 2 days. I would not visit again nor would i recommend it.I would advise future guests to view in person the rooms and pool before booking, to get an accurate picture of what to expect.The staff were friendly and interacted well.

    We stayed at the Gunung Merta bungalows in August 2025. We had a lovely time there. All the staff were smiling and happy. The conditions of the property were beautiful and our bungalow was lovely. The pool was delightful. Our favourite part was the decorations every single morning and the breakfast was absolutely beautiful.

    "Charming hotel with friendly service"

    We had a spacious room with a balcony and a beautiful view of the jungle. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden full of flowers, with a pond and a nice swimming pool that add to the relaxing atmosphere.Breakfast has to be ordered one day in advance by choosing from the menu and specifying the time, but it was always very tasty. What we appreciated the most was the extremely kind and helpful staff, who made our stay very pleasant despite the bad weather.The only small downside is the location – the hotel is just about a 10-minute walk from the center, but the sidewalks are in poor condition (broken and uneven), which makes walking a bit difficult. The traffic is also very busy, so taking a taxi doesn’t get you there much faster either.

    What a wonderful stay we’ve had. A hidden gem in the hussle and bussle of Ubud but everything close by and walkable. You pass through their beautiful private temple and lush garden to get to the bungalows. Very clean and spacious with 2 balconies and comfy bed and bathroom. A nice size pool. Delicious breakfast with alot of choice that you order the night before. The staff is so nice and hospitable.I had my birthday on departure day and they made me a lovely birthday-cake and sang for me.

    A quiet oasis in the heart of Ubud

    We spent a wonderful 5 nights at Gunung Merta bungalows. The staff were so friendly. The rooms are large and with a big balcony, overlooking the forest. There is a pool and a few loungers for the days you want to relax and read. Breakfast is wide ranging and you order it the night before. Nearby are lots of good cafes and restaurants and special mention to Delta cafe across the road. Excellent food, coffee, and pastries.
