    Great guide for trekking!

    rating17 Nov 2019

We actually didn't stay at this homestay (we stayed at one right behind it because we didn't know about this one and ours was nice, too). But, this homestay arranges for guides for trekking and we arranged to have Ropie guide us because he was recommended by another traveler we met. Ropie was GREAT! We ended up hiring him for two half days, first to trek to the waterfalls and through clove farms, and then to trek through the rice fields and coffee farms. Ropie speaks excellent English (when hiring a guide at this homestay, they set the price, which is very reasonable, and it is based on the English proficiency of the guide, medium or excellent; Ropie is considered medium, but we found his English to be fantastic). We had wonderful conversations and he was very interested in our culture and we in his, so we had a lot to talk about and learn about on our walks. He has always lived in Munduk and his family farms here, so he knows a lot about the life, the flora, and farming here. We highly recommend Ropie to anyone looking to walk around Munduk. Guru1995, Reception at Guru Ratna Homestay, responded to this review Dear Mr/s. Sean H,Thanks for your feedback and I personally say thank you very much for two and a half days for sharing so many things. You gave a lot of things that I didn't know in your country before. That is very useful for me. Once again, thank you for staying in our village and Have a nice day in Ubud for 3 days before continuing to New Zealand, you have such a long journey.Kind Regards,Ropie

    Beautiful quiet homestay

    rating02 Dec 2018

We booked 2 nights here to relax in munduk and soak up the views. When we arrived we/booking.com had made a mistake and we didn't have the seating area we expected, nor the room. However, the staff happily moved us with no extra cost into the larger room with a terrace. We were here in low season and the only guests around. We sat looking out at the view, eating at their restaurant and enjoying the serenity of munduk after 5 nights in the south of Bali. The staff were always available if needed, and rooms were clean and the bed was really comfy. Breakfast was simple but enough to keep you going. You can also do the 3 waterfall walk from the property. It took us around 3 hours with picture breaks, and is a really lovely morning walk. Only negative was a bit of a bad smell in the room. I think it is just the humidity in the buildings. It wasn't a problem for us though. Guru1995, Reception at Guru Ratna Homestay, responded to this review Dear Mr/s. Joss,Thanks for your feedback and We apologize if you feel unsatisfied.Kind Regards,Rope

    Good food and quiet place

    rating24 Jul 2018

A cool place to eat traditional balinese food in Munduk in a quiet atmosphere (not directly on the road). Possibility of sandwich and croque-monsieur (jaflle) for lunch. An advice: try the Oseng-oseng (appetizer) Guru1995, Reception at Guru Ratna Homestay, responded to this review Dear Mr/s.
