    Palm reading scam

    rating27 Mar 2026

Had a palm reading at Liyer Spirit House in Ubud. I must say that it definitely waste of time and money. Paid IDR350,000.00 as booked in advance. The reading lasted probably less than 5 min. There was nothing of substance told, that a regular person with a regular people reading skills couldn’t tell. A palm reader had a bad English, so you cannot really understand properly what he means. It is absolute scam when it comes to palm reading service. But if you wish to experience lovely Indonesian garden and a family temple, maybe worth a visit.

    AVOID

I went for a palm reading. A total waste of 300k. Unfriendly Receptionist processed me through the system. I waited an hour and a half then had a 4 minute so called Palm reading. This is a tourist scam. I spoke with other people after and we had all been told the same thing - that we looked 10 years younger than we were, that we were going to live until 90/91. Shame on you Ketut Liyer. Your grandfather would be so very disappointed in you. You are a sham. Not nice to see chained and caged birds either.

    Don’t do it.

If you’re looking to do a palm reading - DON’T! I absolutely felt like it was a cash grab. 300k (~$20usd) for 5 minutes. It felt so extremely generic and surface level. Save yourself the time and money and take yourself elsewhere for a better, more authentic experience. Not to mention all the chained and caged birds. I will never go back and will definitely not recommend this for anyone.

    DON’T SUPPORT THIS PLACE

    rating23 Sept 2025

First of all, this places is full of caged exotic animals. It’s horrible and sad to see. They have a sign saying that is for conservation purposes but that is just BS. And anyway that’s not the way of treating animals. They are in minuscules cages. I work with animals, I know about their behaviour and they are in fact VERY stressed.Animal’s should be free, not in this conditions. They are not ornamental, nor decoration.Second, the palm reading is a scam. I went with a friend and he said the exact same generic things to both of us. But that’s what I care the least. The horrible part is the caged animals

    Good

I just had palm reading, for fun and curiosity. Wayan is very nice, educated and smile all the time. Of course I wasn't expecting something like Ketut on the movie "Eat, pray, love" so for me was very good. Just good words and I loved the experience. Just didn't liked about the birds and animals in cages. God created the animals to be free, not prisioners.
