  Disappointing Stay Despite the Price

  I stayed at Ocean View recently and didn’t leave with a good impression. The reception and restaurant service staff were impatient and had an attitude, which already made the experience unpleasant.The room was also quite run down. One of the switches was broken, and the place clearly needs maintenance. Even basic conveniences were missing, like not having a plug point near the bedside.The restaurant wasn’t much better. There was no ice during breakfast, and during dinner they kept running out of ice. These are basic essentials that any resort should have.Even though the price is cheap, the fundamentals just aren’t there. With better maintenance and proper service training, this place could improve a lot, but in its current state, I wouldn’t recommend it.

  Wonderful resort close to cafes etc

  Wonderful 5 night stay. Room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed, air con, tea and coffee making, fridge, tv, internet. Choice of 2 beautiful pools, both with plenty of space to laze on deck chairs, and lovely gardens to sit under trees and relax. Restaurant had plenty of options for all meals, and food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Massage was excellent and at very good prices. All the staff were wonderful and friendly, particularly in the restaurant. Resort is beachfront, so step straight into the water for snorkel, scuba diving on the USAT Liberty. Dive staff, particularly my guide Kadek, were extremely helpful and friendly. 200metres to cafes, warungs, and convenience stores. Good location for day trips into the highlands, lakes, temples and waterfalls. Will definitely be returning!

  Great place with awesome dive guides

  With a beach frontage, just in frontvof the Liberty wreck dive site, you can't get a better location than this.The chalet we were staying was huge around 40 sqm, which is ideal for diver with lot of equipments. Even though it was well over 30 degree outside, the aircondition worked great, they kept it on through out the day, and it was very nice once we got back from our dives. The best thing about this place are its dive guides and dive master. I don't usually like to mention names, but i need to make an exception this time. My daughter and i want to thank Kadek and Komang who were so professional and dedicated to taking care of us. They carried our dive gears (tanks and fins) over the rocky beach terrain and physically helped us buckled up inside the water. They may look small and skinny, but these are tough guys.. without their assistance, we would had not had enjoyed the dives... under the water, they helped us took some fantastic pictures of many of the beautiful creatures we had wanted to see...pygmy sea horse, electric disco clam, box fish...thank you guys!.

  Great Location nice grounds

  Ocean View TulembenThe resort is located 100mts walk/ swim from the Liberty Wreck.We stayed in a Deluxe Chalet, which featured a large living area, huge bathroom with a large bath, and a lovely veranda which was nice to sit out on and watch the rain. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained, and the chalets are nicely spaced out in these gardens. We stayed in chalet No 5 which was nice but is the closest to the dive shop which means you hear the clanging of dive tanks at 5am in the morning. The resort has a large dining area with ocean views. The food was very good and well priced. Nice vegetarian options.Our only disappointment was with the Dive Center operation. They appeared to have quite a few people working in the Centre (well there were people lying on the floor in the centre wearing the centre’s dive shirts so we assumed they were staff). No one wanted to assist us. We tracked down the Dive Master and explained we wanted to dive the following day. We have our own gear so we just needed tanks and weights. He wasn’t interested in seeing our cert card and said ‘come back tomorrow’. The following day, our tanks and weights had been put by reception for us, but no one came to check on us to ensure all was okay. Thankfully we have dived the wreck in previous Years so we knew where to head!Tips is to dive early in the morning to beat the day trippers who appear before lunch.This is our third trip to the Tulamben area and we were really disappointed to see the amount of plastics, rubbish and even building waste on the beach. There appears to be little effort on the part of most of the resorts to clean this up. We realise that a lot of this waste may come from the town via local drains, or washed in from the sea, but Tulamben survives on eco tourism and they should help clean the area up. There is no shortage of staff sitting around (we counted 10 in the restaurant chatting on their phones as no guests were in the area.) If every resort took responsibility for the beach in front of their establishment It would make a massive difference.We hope for the sake of the environment and local businesses that this is addressed. Also there is no attempt to reduce plastic waste in the resort by having filtered water stations rather than receiving four small plastic bottles of water each day.

  Tidy and cosy place

  We just stayed here for our dive, but i wanted to do a short summary anyways, The place is incredible tidy, espcially for indonesia. The food seems fresh, but more amazing are several pools, the super fresh cut lawn und of course the nice things (ship wreck) you can see if you dive. Be aware that the entrance to the sea is extremly rough if you were your diving equipment, due to a lot of uneven stones. But the view you get once in the water is just next level.
