    Heaven on Earth

    rating08 Jun 2025

Where Heaven Meets EarthFrom the moment I stepped onto the stone pathway, surrounded by whispering frangipani trees and the gentle murmur of the sacred river below, I knew Pondok Sebatu Villa was no ordinary place. This is where Bali's soul lives – in the dappled sunlight through ancient trees, in the morning mist curling over emerald rice terraces, and in the quiet kindness of every smiling staff member who made me feel not like a guest, but like family returning home. The Villa That Stole My HeartWaking in our thatched-roof sanctuary to the symphony of nature – birds calling, water flowing, leaves rustling – was like being gently pulled from the sweetest dream. The infinity pool became my sacred space, where I'd float for hours watching clouds dance across the sky, the water so perfectly still it mirrored heaven above. Every corner of the villa whispered thoughtful details from the hand-carved woodwork to the fresh offerings gracing our doorstep each dawn. To the Angels of Pondok Sebatu VillaYou've created more than a luxury retreat – you've built a temple of tranquility where weary hearts can mend. I arrived exhausted from the world, and left with my spirit lighter, my smile easier, my faith in beauty restored. The scent of your incense still lingers on my clothes, and every time I close my eyes, I'm back in that paradise where time stood still. For anyone seeking not just a vacation, but a homecoming for the soul – this is for you.

Challenging Access and Disappointing Experience Despite Beautiful Views

    rating06 May 2025

The estate is set in a beautiful location with serene lake and valley views, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. Getting there is very difficult—after a sharp left off the main road, you're directed down a narrow country path that becomes increasingly steep and abrupt, making access quite a challenge. While the setting is picturesque, the property itself feels old and derelict. The pool had a massive palm leaf floating in it on arrival, and in December the water was far too cold to enjoy. The room had several issues: spiders, lizards, and blood-sucking flies were frequent visitors. The air conditioner was extremely old, noisy, and kept shutting down every few minutes. The TV didn’t work properly, and although the property supposedly has three Wi-Fi networks, they shut them off in the evening, leaving us without connection throughout our stay. The bathtub couldn’t hold water, making it unusable, and overall, the room and facilities clearly need refurbishment if the property wishes to retain its star rating.

    Picturesque

    rating06 Mar 2025

Never stayed the night as we are locals, but visit often for breakfast or lunch on morning walks. Newly expanded it is more picturesque than ever. The grounds are beautiful with water running everywhere. Nice menu with Indonesia and western offerings. Have visited the rooms and they are well appointed, with tubs, tub views, private pools and the place itself is surrounded by nature. You can explore the area easily by foot if you enjoy walking through nature or the village roads and paths. Highly recommended.

    Wonderful

    rating07 Oct 2024

Wonderful experience. Beautiful view, refreshing private pool and excellent service. On arrival I was upgraded to a villa with valley view, but couldn't manage the many steps. It's located at the bottom of the property. Upon request, they relocated me to a villa closer to the restaurant and reception. No fuss and with a smile.

    Family Holiday

    rating04 Aug 2024

We stayed here with our 2 kids in a 2 Bedroom Private Pool Villa and loved it!The pool was freezing but the kids didn't care and swam every day. It was so peaceful to look out from the balcony at rice terraces. The staff are amazing and so friendly.Wouldn't recommend for little kids (or elderly) as lots of uneven steps. The village of Sebatu is perfect and close to temple, rice terraces and waterfalls. We highly recommend!
