Tamarind Beach Bungalows: Disappointing at best

    rating06 Apr 2026

Tamarind Beach Bungalows, Nusa Lembongan, Bali: We left 3 nights early even though we'd already paid. Tamarind Beach Bungalows had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the expectations set by the photos and promises on various travel websites. The location is beautiful, with lush greenery and beautiful beach views. Tamarind Beach itself is a nice spot to relax, though access to the water can be difficult depending on the tides. The beach is quite rocky, which can make swimming or walking uncomfortable. While the scenery is impressive, that’s where the positives end.The bungalows are far from the immaculate, enjoyable getaway shown in photos. Interiors are basic, and cleanliness and comfort leave a lot to be desired. Furniture is tired and dated. Bathrooms have unusual design, including holes in the walls for ventilation that allow mosquitoes and midges to enter. There is no fridge or cups provided in the rooms, and when the room was made up, no bottled water was provided. Bedsheets were wet when the room was made up, and there is no hot water in the showers. There are no mosquito nets provided as shown in the pictures. The insect situation was a major issue. Mosquitoes and midges were everywhere, particularly in the evenings. If you’re staying here, bring a mosquito net our son got eaten alive by mosquitoes. The lack of protection from insects is a big problem, especially for a property marketed as a “tropical paradise.”Breakfast was limited, with small portion sizes. The on site restaurant serves basic food that is nothing special.Staff were generally friendly but not outstanding. The pool was poorly maintained the filter intake was uncovered, and our son got his leg stuck in it until staff were found to turn it off, leaving him bruised. This raised serious safety concerns. There is a big contrast between the beautiful online photos and the reality of the property. The bungalows are rustic and in need of maintenance, far less luxurious than advertised. While Tamarind Beach Bungalows could be a decent spot with more attention to detail, in its current state it’s hard to recommend. Wet bedsheets, poorly maintained facilities, no fridge or cups, no bottled water when rooms are made up, no hot water, rocky beach, mosquito infestation, and tiny breakfast portions make for a frustrating stay. There are better options on Nusa Lembongan for comfort, beach access, food, and a bug free experience.

    Very Disappointing Stay

    rating24 Oct 2025

We were very disappointed with our stay at this establishment. We booked 7 nights for 7 people but wanted to leave after just 2 nights. The included breakfast portions were so tiny that we had to eat elsewhere, and lunch was just as small. We experienced power outages on 4 of the 6 days we were there, sometimes for several hours, and also lost water at times, meaning we couldn’t even flush toilets. Our rooms were cleaned only once during the week, and when we ran out of toilet paper, it took two days to get more. The rooms were supposed to have fridges, but there were none. Bath towels were small, torn, and stained. Staff were often hard to find when we needed assistance. While we understand this is a budget option, the experience was still not worth the money. We ended up checking out a day early. To make matters worse, my husband became very ill after drinking their coffee, so I would strongly advise against it. The rooms come with a kettle but no coffee cups.Nusa Lembongan itself is absolutely beautiful, but sadly this accommodation was very run down and disappointing.

    Very Upset

    rating21 Nov 2023

very bad experience. the electricity went out for about 15 minutes because I was afraid I was waiting in front of the pool. the room smelled very bad, the water in the small bathroom I asked to be loaned a water heater but the officer said there wasn't one because I lived in a standard room which was very annoying. the receptionist was very friendly but the cleaning staff was very unfriendly. very upset

    Fair for the price

    rating27 Oct 2023

This place was fair value for the price. We booked for our family of five so had two rooms and we stayed for 6 nights. Both rooms could do with a good clean and there was nowhere really to put luggage except the floor (unless you want to unpack into a wardrobe) . There was also no seating in our rooms but we were happy to sit outside and enjoy the warm evenings. The beds were comfy and clean but there seemed to be a shortage of towels. The pool was clean when we were there and my kids spent hours in there each day.Like many places on islands there’s no hot water for the showers, and the beach has a lot of coral on it, and there is Bali wildlife to navigate. But being so close (5-10 mins walk) to a variety of great restaurants, spas and Mushroom Bay made it all worth it.The staff were helpful, arranging a driver and a boat for us to go snorkelling etc. the breakfast is light but made starting the day with kids in tow easier than having to go elsewhere. There are nicer places nearby but the price of this place meant we could holiday longer and that worked for us. We would go again (but would take towels).

    Do not recommend.

    rating19 Sept 2023

Do not recommend This spot has so much potential but needs management in place to overhaul the situation. This is by far one of the worst experiences ever and i wish I had read all the reviews prior to booking. The hotel is very dilapidated and dirty. The linen had holes in it. No hot water. We were charged 150,000 per night for an extra bed for our 3 year old which was a piece of old foam with no blanket. The rooms were not serviced or cleaned throughout our four night stay. When we requested fresh towels / pool towels I was advised all towels were at the laundry, we never received any towels. The reception and kitchen have mice running through it. On the upside the boat driver was amazing and location wise is only a short walk to nice restaurants and bars. The staff are nice enough, but are continually smoking. Will never return and do not advise families staying here.
