    Outstanding Customer Service.

    rating07 Jun 2026

Please note: This is a review of the self-catering only. We spent three nights over the June bank holiday weekend staying in a two-bed orchard residence and to say that it exceeded our expectations is an understatement. The residences do not look as if they are up to much from the outside but once you open the front door to the spacious open plan downstairs it is a most pleasant surprise. The residence was spotlessly clean and the welcome basket was most welcome - you could definitely make a meal for four from the items provided. The beds were super comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the power shower. I did not particularly care for the Liddell pillows so I will bring my own the next time and, probably, an XXXL bath sheet! We were attending a wedding at the resort and for us the standout feature was the customer service. It was not excellent. It was outstanding. Every member of staff we met smiled, made eye contact and wanted to help. Thank you very, very much.PS The residences were very quiet and, in my opinion, good value for money.

    A let down

    rating05 Jun 2026

I’ll start with the positives. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were spacious, the bathroom was beautiful, and the grounds are absolutely lovely.Unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing. I would not recommend staying here when weddings are taking place, as the hotel seems completely focused on those events. Guests are unable to use areas such as the Knights Bar and the Manor House, which significantly limits the experience. We rang reception who said Knights bar was open for us but when we went there was another wedding. The staff need to align. We also struggled with dining options. We tried to get food in the Canopy Bar for lunch, but it was full, and there was a golf event on both days of our stay, which further restricted food availability. As a result, we had to order room service. We were charged a €10 tray fee, and to make matters worse, a sandwich listed on the menu at €17 was charged at €18, we didn’t say anything but again just disappointing. Service was also inconsistent. At lunch on our first day, my order was delayed to the point that my husband had nearly finished his meal before mine arrived. No effort was made to make things right. The bathrobes in our room were also very worn and shabby and are in need of replacement.Overall, the hotel has some excellent features but after our experience I wouldn’t recommend it. Trevor Sheehan, Guest Services / Front Office at Castlemartyr Resort, responded to this review Dear Guest,We value all feedback especially such as yours as it gives us the opportunity to address any shortcomings in our guests experience promptly. Please accept my sincere apologies for the issues that you have highlighted. I have shared your feedback with the relevant departmental managers and the necessary corrective action has been taken to improve our service standards going forward. In addition as I believe your experience was an isolated one ,I would appreciate if you would communicate with me through my email to enable me to personally discuss your stay with us and to work with you to recover your goodwill. Looking forward to hearing from you. Trevor Sheehan Guest Relations Manager tsheehan@castlemartyrresort.ie

Mediocre Resort Hotel at 5-Star Price

    rating01 Jun 2026

Overall an acceptable hotel stay, in a beautiful golf / parkland setting. However, at the price it did not meet our expectations in terms of facilities, decor, service and food in the Canopy Restaurant (note: we didn't eat in the 2-star Michelin Restaurant). The hotel is 20 years old and furniture and fittings were in need of refurbishment. The hotel's main business seems to be golf and weddings and the focus of their efforts - other guest have to fit round these two groups. Trevor Sheehan, Guest Services / Front Office at Castlemartyr Resort, responded to this review Dear Guest, I have noted your feedback and I appreciate your observations in relation to the beautiful "setting" of our resort. Our Grounds Team work tirelessly to maintain such an environment for our guests so they will be delighted. We value all feedback as it gives us the opportunity to address any shortcomings promptly. I am disappointed to read that you felt that we did not meet your expectations for certain aspects of your stay on this occasion.I would appreciate if you could communicate your experience in more detail as I would like to investigate these issues and implement the necessary corrective action immediately.I feel that your experience was an isolated one in regards to your feedback for refurbishment in certain areas as considerable investment has been made throughout the resort in recent years and continues to be ongoing. Our business certainly includes golf and weddings but we equally facilitate and welcome all sectors of the hospitality market including business, couples, family, friends and solo guests as well as those guests who wish to enjoy a very special culinary experience in our 2-star Michelin "Terre" restaurant. The consistent positive feedback from guests is a testament to the service standards that we all strive for each day at the resort and I do hope that you will return to experience these on your next visit to us.Kindest regards,Trevor SheehanGuest Relations Managertsheehan@castlemartyrresort.ie
