This popular city hotel is centrally located, within minutes of Cork's Patrick Street with plenty of shopping and entertainment venues as well as bars, pubs, theatres and cinemas (200 m). Cork airport is 10 km away (about a 15 minute drive).

Facility

The hotel was built in 1800. 101 rooms, including 4 single rooms and 78 double rooms, are located on 5 storeys and can be reached by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities.     Hotel disappointed and needs refurbishment

    I have stayed in this hotel many times, as it’s close to where my family grew up and I have a nostalgic link to it. I requested a twin room as we were travelling as brother and sister for a funeral. Hotel agreed but when we arrived we were given a double. The lady on reception realised and then gave us a twin room on 5th floor. Room given was 527 and it had a really bad musty smell. But as we were only staying two nights we didn’t want to request another change. That evening when we arrived back to hotel the lift was broken and I was asked to walk to the 5th floor as other lift didn’t service the room I was in. My sister had a broken foot and shoulder and I refused to walk her up to the 5th floor. The 2 people on reception went out of their way to help (Sam the night manager and another). It was not their fault and they gave exemplary service. Eventually we were moved and I had to move my luggage at 11.30 pm. Others in the lobby also had to walk to 4 and 5th floors. I would have expected a 4 star hotel to have access to all rooms. We were put in room 515 and again problems. Bathroom door didn’t shut, windows didn’t open, bathroom sink didn’t drain. I am usually a very positive person and realise that things do break down but wow so many. My only good experiences of the stay were the excellent staff and breakfast. I did contact the hotel afterwards and received a stock response that they were sorry they failed to meet expectations and please try them again. But this hotel badly needs a refurbishment, at least in the two rooms we ended up. I have always stayed in the Shandon Court when I visited family in Cork but this will be the last time. Some other members of my family stayed in the newly opened Dean, cheaper rate, more facilities and better rooms. I conveyed this to the Maldron but just a stock answer. I am extremely disappointed with the hotel and will go elsewhere in the future.     Stayed for 1 night, in the morning showered, left my gold bracelet on the locker. Checked out, phoned 45 minutes later and cleaning department said no bracelet was found. Very disappointed as it was of sentimental value.     Food in the bar was not the best. I had the fish and it was not great. Like it was frozen fish when I expected a fresh fish. The Room was good with all amenities and was clean. Breakfast was again not great some of the selection was overcooked in particular the pudding. Only a few parking spaces as well and seemed to be full all the time. Old hotel.     Lovely hotel ! Great location and rooms very spacious, clean and comfortable! Breakfast was beautiful! Added bonus was the pool ! Staff really friendly ! Cork is a fabulous place to visit !     Just home from a lovely weekend in the Maldron Hotel. The building itself is absolutely fine - clean and modern- I’d say 3.5 star with a pool.. but it’s the staff who make it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anne Marie and Shanice in particular were just fantastic and they definitely love their job - so professional. They took great care of us and Anne Marie’s happiness is just infectious. The breakfast staff were also so lovely (sorry I didn’t get your names). Overall our group had mutiple rooms and everyone had a lovely stay.
