    Best Hotel on trip!

    rating14 Jun 2026

From the first steps in the door to our goodbyes the service was amazing! The warm hospitality of the Irish shown brightly in this beautiful 5 star hotel. The meals were delicious while service meticulous. Spa was on par with service and amenities. All the staff from Miguel at the front desk and Michael our porter were helpful, warm and lovely. Our family loved the beautiful view from our rooms, the lush Irish countryside on display for us to enjoy. Thank you for everything!

Cemetery view for 2000 euro weekend 👏

    rating30 May 2026

The views over the Lakes of Killarney are beautiful, the staff were pleasant, and dinner was good with nice presentation. Unfortunately, that is where most of the positives end.We booked a suite for a special occasion and requested one of the best views available more than two months in advance. Including spa access, our two-night stay cost almost €2,000.Main disappointments:• Huge cemetery directly in front of the hotel and our suite. While the lake is beautiful, the cemetery dominates the foreground and is impossible to ignore. The much-advertised lake view is behind it. This was by far the biggest disappointment of our stay.• Very poor breakfast quality. The Full Irish looked and tasted reheated. The sausages were dry inside, the bacon was clearly not freshly prepared, and the overall presentation was unappetising. We have had fresher and better breakfasts in 3-star guesthouses around Kerry.• Strong sewage smell in the suite. The smell was bad enough that we had to contact reception and a plumber was sent to carry out repairs during our stay. Having plumbing works carried out in a suite booked for a special occasion is simply unacceptable.• Rooms in need of refurbishment. Dated furniture, old cushions, an ageing toilet seat, and very worn shower and sink fittings. The taps did not provide a smooth flow of water but instead splashed and spat in different directions.• Disappointing spa and pool facilities. The pool area shows visible signs of age, the jacuzzi was not functioning properly, and the spa is much smaller than expected. The pool is also located separately from the spa, requiring guests to move between different areas and use multiple flights of stairs.• Lack of attention to detail. A minibar menu despite there being no minibar, an empty cheap-looking fridge hidden in the wardrobe, and only two tiny bottles of water provided for two guests. What surprised us most was seeing so many 5-star reviews. Based on our experience, we genuinely struggle to understand how this hotel consistently receives such high ratings. The location is exceptional and the restaurant is good, but the accommodation, facilities, breakfast, and overall standard do not justify either the 5-star rating or an almost €2,000 bill for a two-night stay. Brian Bowler, General Manager at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Liana S,Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay. While we are pleased you enjoyed our dining experience and noted in your review that our location is exceptional and our staff pleasant, we were disappointed to see your low sub-scores for these same areas, as well as your overall rating. We take all guest feedback seriously and would like to clarify a few points for future travellers reading this:Our Suites & Cleanliness - We were incredibly surprised by your low room and cleanliness scores, as the suite you occupied has just undergone a complete, top-to-bottom refurbishment featuring entirely brand-new bedding, carpets, furniture, and bathroom fixtures. The Plumbing Disruption - We do, however, sincerely apologise for the plumbing odour you encountered. While we immediately dispatched a member of our maintenance team to resolve the issue, we completely agree that having maintenance work carried out during a special occasion is far from ideal, and we regret the disruption this caused to your comfort. The View & Historic Grounds - Our property sits adjacent to a beautifully preserved medieval abbey and its historic graveyard, which holds deep cultural and historical significance for the Killarney community and is featured in many of our guests' photos. While we understand visual preferences vary, this heritage site sits alongside our panoramic views of the Lakes of Killarney.Minibar Policy - To clarify, our in-room coolers are kept unstocked by default during this season due to a high volume of guest requests to store personal items. We place a prominent menu card in the room inviting guests to contact reception if they would like the minibar fully stocked, which our team handles promptly.Package Value - We understand a €2,000 weekend comes with high expectations. For clarity this package rate reflected a peak-season stay in a premium suite with full spa access, and included fine-dining meal for two during your stay.Your feedback regarding the breakfast quality has been shared directly with our Executive Chef to ensure our usual high standards are met. We are incredibly proud of the consistent 5-star reviews our hard-working team receives, and while we regret we missed the mark for you, we stand confidently behind the quality of our newly updated suites.Warm regards,BrianBrian BowlerGeneral Manager
