Location

This attractive hotel is situated right in the heart of Killarney, in the middle of a large garden area. Muckcross House and Gardens are located close to the hotel and links to the public transport network lie about 200 m away. Shannon airport is around 135 km from the hotel and Kerry airport is around 20 km away.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1854. 172 rooms, including 34 suites and 11 single rooms, are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. A baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park.     The Best Hotel Experience I have ever had!!!!

    The comfort and elegance of our stay at Great Southern was unmatched. While the building and grounds are breathtaking, it is truly the staff that makes the experience unforgettable. I have never had such service before in every area of the hotel. When I casually mentioned that I was a little down with a cold, I found tea, honey, a sleep mask and a personal note in my room wishing me to feel better soon.The bar and restaurant staff were impeccable and entertaining and the concierges and general staff made me feel so welcome that I had to hug them when I left. I hope to return again!

    We recently attended a wedding here and couldn't have asked for a more stunning setting for such a special occasion. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere was elegant and the attention to detail was clear throughout the entire evening.What truly made our night, however, was the exceptional service we received from our server, Ray. He was professional, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was training a new younger member of staff during the evening and the care and patience he showed was wonderful to witness.The service we experienced wasn't just polished, it felt genuine. It's rare to come across that level of hospitality at a wedding, and it made the whole experience even more memorable.We would highly recommend this hotel for any special occasion. A beautiful venue backed by truly outstanding staff.

    It’s been almost a year since we got married, and honestly, we still can’t thank everyone at the Great Southern enough — especially Jillian, Ciara, and Stephen.From the very beginning, they made the whole experience so easy and completely stress-free.
