    Not that great

    rating05 May 2026

I'm going to start this by saying I have never been to Ireland and I really hope the rest of my trip goes over better than my first night here. If my first impression of the people here is to reflect the front desk staff at the Skylon I would rather go home to the states. Hotel is nice not outdated. Parking absolutely sucks. The front desk staff is short and seems like they just don't want to help at all. The room was clean. No washcloths at all. No kleenex. And if you want to unwind by watching TV after being in an airport for 36 hours. This will not be the place for you. There are no streaming options unless you use YOUR OWN HOTSPOT. Maybe 10 channels on their basic channel list. And nobody seems to know why it won't work or how to fix it. I will say the water was nice and hot but that's about the only positive experience at the end of a very long day. Bar staff were EXTREMELY friendly. Maybe you guys should put people who want to work in hospitality at the front. After working in hospitality myself for over 5 years I can say that the first experience a guest has is with the FACE of the hotel. It will determine how they respond to unfavorable conditions. A great front desk staff could make not having all the amenities not such a big deal.

Beware, Not so flexible stay at ‘hospital friendly’ hotel for patients

    rating28 Apr 2026

I booked this hotel as was due to have an early morning surgery in Bon’s Secours hospital close by. I received a call from my surgeon a few days ago to say my surgery had to be postponed. As I had booked and paid upfront for a flexible stay at the hotel, I rang them to try and amend it. I was told by desk a flexible fare has to be changed seven days in advance of the booking and this was three days out so I couldn’t amend dates. This is the hotel that claims on its website that it’s a hospital friendly hotel . If that was the case they would allow a degree of flexibility in their midweek bookings for hospital patients given that these can often be changed without seven days notice. As a result I lost the money on my Skylon room and will also have to pay for a room in another hotel for my surgery. I have contacted the Hospital and explained what happened and asked them to please tell patients not to book this hotel in case there is any delay in surgery.
