A hotel that doesn't care about its customers

    rating21 Feb 2026

I am fond of Handel as a composer. Unfortunately, the hotel is quite another story. The bells of Christ Church ringing every 15 minutes may have some charm, but the single-glazed windows and the noisy surroundings are disturbing at night. Much worse is the total loss of empathy/sympathy of the sales manager. Upon checking in, we noticed we had made a mistake and booked the room twice. A huge cost for us (500€), but peanuts for the hotel. While the mistake was ours, we released the second room in the hope that, if the hotel would manage to rent it, we could get at least a partial refund. We also said that we would be happy to get a discount voucher for a next occasion instead, since we were planning to come back in June. The sales manager was unwilling to offer the slightest compensation, he didn't even propose a free breakfast or drink, although he later admitted that he had been able to rent the second room to someone else. He could have easily decided to show some sympathy and please us in one way or another. Instead, he charged the room twice (to us and to another customer) and so he refused to give us the second room back when we realized that he would not make the slightest commercial gesture. I would have expected such a behavior from a one or two-star hotel, not to a three-star one. This hotel is just after money, their priority is not to please their customers. They don't care about your experience or whether you will come back or not. We won't.

    Excellent Location

    rating05 Feb 2026

Stayed in a triple room for two nights with my two sons. Ideal location to explore the many famous pubs and restaurants in The Temple Bar area. We used a cafe literally yds from the hotel entrance for breakfast. Place clean and staff were very nice and helpful too.

    rating11 Nov 2025

Fantastic location, really friendly and helpful staff. Room was very clean, spacious and quiet. Great facilities (big modern powerful shower, fan, iron board, hairdryer etc. Laid back atmosphere throughout hotelBreakfast was a mix of hot food and continental with loads of choice catering for all food intolerances/allergies. Would highly recommend. Good value for money

    Great Staff

    rating01 Nov 2025

Was in Dublin for a few nights.Great location, away from the main drag of Temple bar, but easy to get everywhere.Rooms comfortable and basic, did the job. Some absolutely lovely staff, Maulo, Valeria, and Paddy.Took the time to chat to us and nothing was too much trouble, and made us feel very welcome. Was sad to leave! Handels Hotel... you have some great people working for you. Please pass on our thanks and good wishes. xx

    DO NOT ACCEPT ROOM 605.!

    rating28 Oct 2025

We were utterly appalled by our stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, we were given Room 605, which had the most disgusting drain smell. When we complained to reception, they admitted they were aware of the issue but said there were no other rooms available and that we would have to stay there. After further complaints, they reluctantly moved us to the room next door – which turned out to be a single occupancy room, despite us paying extra for what was supposed to be a deluxe room. The receptionist tried to pass the responsibility to the morning staff, suggesting we check again for availability. The next day, we were told the hotel was fully booked all week and “there’s nothing we can do.” So much for customer service. The so-called deluxe room was the smallest room in the hotel. The bed was pushed into a corner, meaning one of us had to climb over the other to get in and out. There were no windows, only a skylight that couldn’t open. The air conditioning didn’t work. The food was equally appalling. We paid a premium for what can only be described as a pathetic attempt at a toasted sandwich. The presentation was awful, and it looked and tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge for a week.We paid considerably over the odds for this experience. I wish I had checked the reviews before booking – it would have saved us a lot of disappointment. Avoid this hotel at all costs.
