Friendly, comfortable hotel with superb location in Dublin's heart

    rating01 May 2026

A wonderful hotel, perfectly situated on the riverfront next to the fabulous Museum of Irish Emigration and an easy walk to anything in the old city center. Near easy-to-spot landmarks for the return walk: the Old Custom House and the two-masted ship/museum. With friendly, helpful staff (especially Caoimhe) who will order a taxi for you if your trek is too long for walking or off the easy route of the nearby tramway, this Hilton houses lots of tourists and yet remains quiet for sleeping or resting in generously sized rooms. It was kept immaculately clean during our week-long stay. Just don't expect to find washcloths in Irish hotels! Nice bar and café, too.

Amazing breakfast, amazing matcha, amazing service!

Hotels can be scary & daunting because of their high demanding prices. But for me, because of the positive experience I had with hotels in early years at the beginning of my career in Italy ( Aerhotel Executive Milan, Hotel Baglioni in Florence, Aerhotel Source du Nil Bujumbura, Burundi ), hotels are a nice place to go, even for small pleasures.I have visited a lot of fancy hotels in Dublin. For about a year, I have made it a frequent habit to go for a walk along the River Liffey during my breaks, admiring at the same time the creativity & the beauty of the buildings along the River. What stroke me most few months ago was the impressive in and outflow of customers from the Hilton Gardens Inn. Something I didn’t see often in front of other hotels !I said to my self these guys must have amazing Marketing people.Very curious as I am, I entered the hotel for a cup of Matcha tee in the small Café beside the Reception desk.Straight away the guy working in the Café was full smile and warmly welcoming. The way he was preparing my Matcha was just special, his concentration & dedication were admirable. His Matcha was unique and I used to drive miles just to get his Matcha.I used to tell him jokingly that he was probably the best Barrister in Dublin !No wonder that he was running his own Coffee Shop before joigning Hilton.By visiting the Café so many times we ended up becoming good friends !Unfortunately for me, Sergio is studying very hard and works only two days a week.I wish him every success, but for me it’s hard to find a comparable Barrister for my daily Matcha Tea 😭
