    Disappointed

    rating02 May 2026

I have sensitivity to smell and when I walked into the hotel, there was a very strong perfume smell. I was thankful that my room didn't have a scent. However, I was very disappointed that I had a single bed. I haven't slept in one since I was a kid. They didn't have any rooms left, so all night I was worried to fall out of bed. The bed also was uncomfortable and squeaked every time I moved. I hardly slept! I don't think that they should offer that kind of room to no one. Ian McGuinness, Owner at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club, responded to this review Dear lisaestey,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear about your experience and the discomfort you faced during your stay but I would certainly challenge the one star review. We regret that the scent in the lobby caused you distress, especially given your sensitivity. We simply aim to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.I’m also sorry that the room configuration did not meet your expectations. You were a guest, travelling alone and as part of a larger tour group. Due to the Tour company reserving this room type and the limited availability on the night, we were unable to offer an alternative. It should be noted that you had a twin room and both single beds are of the standard size.We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us identify areas where we need to improve. I hope we may have the opportunity to provide you with a much more comfortable stay in the future.Kind regards,Ken BattiganGeneral ManagerRoganstown Hotel & Country Club

Glamorous at first look, grungy at second

    rating24 Apr 2026

We arrived at the hotel, and I was very hopeful, that hope was short lived. First off, we were giving a handicap room, which was very weird. I went down to the lobby and asked the desk if we could switch, they allowed us to switch thank goodness! (It wigged me and my lady out) the man at the desk told me that he would put us in a good room! And again I’m thinking Ooo, we are getting an upgrade for the inconvenience. We were giving the room key of 243 and headed to the room with excitement! That sadly was short lived the second we opened the door and walked 10 steps. 1. The room was very dated2. The carpet was stained.3. We found a dirty face towel behind the bathroom door4. Black bold in the shower along with no grout in some of the tiles and poorly laid corner pieces that allowed set in water.5. The coffee pot/maker was hidden in the cabinet. It must’ve been 20+ years old and it cost no more than five euro. It was pitiful and extremely grungy.6. The armoire or coat hanger/dresser had chipped and peel and paint and looked growdy like you wouldn’t believe.7. Every time we use the water, the bathroom smelled horrible like sewer.8. Bathroom door was peeling paint, and showing signs of decay. This was a lackluster experience though we tried to make the best of it, but staying out late and spending as little time as possible in the room, it still was a major let down. I know renovations take time, and money but basic upkeep is also important. Another party in our group did have a room in a different wing of the hotel but told us that their water didn’t drain well and they were standing in about 3 inches or 75mm I believe they were in 220 or 220ish. Ian McGuinness, Owner at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club, responded to this review Dear Voyage29802172009,Thank you for taking the time to write your review and share your detailed feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, especially after the initial positive impression on arrival. We regret that the room you were allocated " wigged you and your lady out ", and although I have no idea what that means, I am glad that my team could re allocate you without delay. The issues you’ve described reflect the wear and tear of any Hotel room and the decor is in keeping with our Country House style and history. In saying that, your comments have been shared with our accommodation and maintenance teams so these matters can be addressed promptly. We truly value your input and would hope that in choosing Roganstown Hotel & Country Club for a future stay, we can restore your confidence in us.Thank you again for your honest and constructive review.Ken BattiganGeneral ManagerRoganstown Hotel & Country Club

    Typical Irish

    rating23 Feb 2026

I believe now this the a-typical hotel type all around the Emerald Isle. I’ve visited a few now. Looks legit, is ok but dated. The smell of soap does not make the years of use go away, there was visible dilapitation - lack of renovation. The floors feel like youre walking on uneven moss. Food was good, so was the service. There was golfers around, looked like a legit course. Ian McGuinness, Owner at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club, responded to this review Dear Ghost,Thank you for taking the time to write and post a review of your recent stay with us here at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club. We were delighted to receive your feedback and very grateful for your comments. We really look forward to having a future opportunity in welcoming you back.Kind RegardsKen BattiganGeneral ManagerRoganstown Hotel & Country Club

If your reviewing this place positively please don’t or raise your standards.

    rating05 Feb 2026

Nothing at all positive to say about this old dilapidated place. Who ever is writing good reviews about this place please stop or raise your standards, I went by the reviews and payed the price. Manager ! You are someone who cannot be trusted as you said on booking.com you dealt with my complaint which you did not, you laughed at me when I complained about the broken bed, you refused to go to the room and look for yourself so I brought you a photograph and you laughed at that. You’re a mess, that building is a mess if you don’t start paying attention to all the complaints you might be out on your ear, you ought to be booted out. Ian McGuinness, Owner at Roganstown Hotel & Country Club, responded to this review Dear Wolfin24 (Mr. Murray),Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As I have already responded to your review on another platform, I will avoid repeating the hotel’s full position here. However, I would like to reiterate that we take great pride in our longstanding tradition of providing excellent guest care, and we continually strive to ensure an enjoyable and comfortable stay for all our past, present, and future guests. On the rare occasions when something does not meet expectations, we take responsibility, offer our sincere apologies, and do everything possible to resolve the matter promptly and to the guest’s satisfaction. This was the approach taken during your stay. When you were unhappy with the zip-and-link bed in your allocated room, we offered you an alternative room, which you accepted.Naturally, there will always be some guests whose expectations we are unable to fully meet. It is therefore disappointing that you feel the need to continue posting reviews regarding a stay that took place almost three months ago. Nonetheless, I am confident that readers will consider the nature of the concerns raised and form their own opinion based on the hundreds of largely positive reviews our property has received.Kind regards,Ken BattiganGeneral ManagerRoganstown Hotel & Country Club
