    Amazing food!

I had a celebratory meal in the bar and had the most amazing food and views of the gardens - fresh menu and amazing quality food! A five star where you feel like you absolutely get the quality and it’s worth every penny. Rio and his amazing team in the kitchen, as well as the bar staff (who made me a special cocktail) made my night. Wouldn't class this hotel as 5*

    rating21 Apr 2026

Arrived at St Helens friday for a 2 night stay. Upon arrival the hotel looked beautiful and we couldn't wait to explore. The reception area isnt very welcoming with the decor its very gawdy but the reception staff make up for that as they are all so lovely, friendly and welcoming. We where shown to our room which was spacious enough but very disappointing. Where to begin...The sofa needs an upgrade there are parts of the distasteful carpet theadbare. The brass sockets are hanging off the wall and one was even n the floor. The fridge was only filled with mold there was no minibar. The wardrobe had very little coathangers in so not enough for what we needed. One of the wardrobe doors was loose and im not surprised as when you opened the left one the door couldn't open fully as it hit off the main door closing bracket. WiFi was the pitts . The drawer on my side of the bed had crumbs and someone's nail inside. The bathroom was on another level I thought id arrived at a museum, it was in a real state with things not fixed in properly and the cheek a card left with how much we would be charged for stealing each item. No1 I dont steal and No2 I only have good things so I wouldnt be stealing rubbish. We went for a walk around the gardens are beautiful very picturesque. We had lunch and our breakfasts in the hotel. I have to say the food was very tasty and we really enjoyed it. Lots of choice for breakfast for everyone's taste buds. Once again all staff where very helpful and friendly. My hubby is big into the gym so we went to have a look at that, quite an embarrassment really. It wasn't worth going to. The staff are what makes this hotel 5* cause I cant think of anything else that does Alexandra Gingell, Guest Services / Front Office at St. Helen's Hotel, Dublin, responded to this review Dear Ange17, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your recent stay at St Helens. We are very pleased to hear that you found our team friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout your visit, and that you enjoyed the food, breakfast selection, and our gardens.
