This has to be the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed at, I went with my daughter and had a double room booked (two single beds) we were told our room had been changed and there wasn't another option, the room was cold, damp with mould on the windows. There was no hot taps and looked nothing like the pictures shown in the website. The windows would no shut and there was a constant smell of cigarette smoke coming in through the window. We asked for the heating to be fixed they said they control it downstairs and turned it in for a short time. The outside of the building was very run down with people hanging around sleeping and drinking it felt very unsafe. The building overall is run down the staff are ignorant and couldn't care less. This has to be the worst stay in Dublin I've ever had I would not recommend at all staying here.

    Gate head hotel Dublin

    rating04 Dec 2025

Gate Hotel Dublin what can I say, unsafe place stinks of canibus, beggers outside the door entrance at night .Only time the bath towels were changed was when the female cleaner decided to steal my Euros from my bag , staff did not give a toss when we spoke with them about this theft . However, I have reported this to the Garda who were very helpful .Very uncomfortable bed we booked for three days and in that time room was not cleaned and beds not made , would never stay there again the photos of the hotel are not genuine , my advice avoid this hotel, there are nicer places to stay in Dublin.

    awful!!!

    rating12 Oct 2025

This hotel is not what it appears to be. The pictures the hotel posted are very inaccurate. They advertise a restaurant and show a lovely meal. They have no restaurant. We were awakened at about 3 in the morning by a crowd of people on the sidewalk below the windows of our room. They had just left a nightclub called Fibbers that had just closed. Fibbers is right next door to the door of the hotel. They were still drinking, mingling and talking very loud. Then horns started blowing. Finally at about 3:30 am there it got quiet. The staff was less than willing to help resolve our situation. We only spent one night out of 8. We ended up leaving Dublin after only 1 day. We changed our flight, checked out and took a taxi to the Clayton Hotel near the airport. We intended to take 3-4 tours from Dublin, feel really sad about missing them.

    Great location and great staff!!!

Great location. The atmosphere was clean, everyday they always gave us more coffee and tea packages and milk. It was a good price for a budget and convenient hotel and it was close to all the tour we signed in, just 10-15 minutes walking to catch the bus of Viator tour, one of the reasons I picked this hotel. We were also very lucky where our bedroom was located because we never had any problems with the bar noise downstairs, the staff did warn us that might get noisy. And the service, the staff especially the two ladies were working, they were super nice and very helpful especially the lady who's young and smiles a lot. She was so helpful and friendly, very kind.

Misleading Photos - Not What Was Advertised

    rating14 Aug 2025

This hotel is nothing like the photos online. The pictures make it look modern, clean, and spacious, but the reality was completely different. The room was small, outdated, and badly maintained, and the “amenities” advertised were either missing or nothing like what was promised. We were so disappointed that we only lasted about 20 minutes in the room before we started looking for another hotel nearby. The staff didn’t seem surprised at all when we checked out right after checking in — which makes us think this probably happens a lot because of the false advertising. We felt misled and disappointed, as we chose this hotel expecting the comfort and quality promised in the photos. Transparency and honesty are crucial when advertising accommodations, and this experience fell far short.Honestly, this felt like a complete scam and a waste of time and money. We would not recommend booking here unless the hotel makes significant improvements and updates their listing to reflect the actual state of the property. Gate Hotel, Guest Services / Front Office at The Gate Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear you were so disappointed with your stay. Your concerns about the photos and overall experience are taken seriously, and we will review this feedback carefully to address any discrepancies and improve transparency. Kind regards Vanya
