    Didn't quite reach 5 stars

    rating05 May 2026

My husband, young daughter, and I stayed in a suite for an overnight at the end of a week long trip. The location is obviously the selling point here. It's across from a lovely park and central to a number of touristy areas with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The walkability is exceptional. The hotel common areas themselves are quite grand and there are multiple bar/dining options on site. The check-in process was seamless, and the Guest Services Coordinator was lovely and set the stay off on the right foot. The suite was relatively large and clean, but dated. Honestly felt like a run of the mill Marriott from the furniture down to the older fittings in the bathroom. Toiletries were lower end. Everything felt a bit worn. We were in a suite on a higher floor but the windows were high and small so the room felt a bit claustrophobic and negated the "view" of the park we expected. However the room itself was whisper quiet, even being on a busy road.Overall to us, this wasn't worth the price paid. But if you're looking for something in a nice area and central to it all then it may be worth it for you. We most likely would not book here again. Andrew Cumpsty, Other at The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection, responded to this review Dear akcole,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review following your recent stay with your family. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our central location, the beautiful surroundings, and the warm welcome from our Guest Services Coordinator—it’s wonderful to know they helped set a positive tone for your visit. At the same time, I am truly sorry to read that aspects of your suite fell short of expectations. While we’re pleased you found it spacious, quiet, and clean, we regret that the décor, furnishings, and bathroom fittings felt dated and did not reflect the standard you anticipated. Your comments regarding the toiletries, as well as the room layout and window design impacting the sense of space and view, are particularly valuable and will be shared with our leadership team as we continuously review opportunities for enhancement. We also appreciate your candid feedback on value for money. It is always our aim to deliver an experience that justifies the investment our guests make, and I am sorry we did not fully achieve this on this occasion.Thank you again for your balanced and constructive feedback. We genuinely hope you might reconsider and allow us the opportunity to provide you with a more exceptional experience in the future.Warm regards,Andrew J. CumpstyQuality & Standards Manager

The location allows you to walk to Trinity college. Park across the street. Walk to grafton street. Many restaurants nearby , but the restaurants and bars in the hotel are excellent

    One for the Memory Box

    rating04 May 2026

We stayed recently and had the most magical weekend. The staff were so friendly, so professional but also impressed the knowledge they all have of the hotel's history, Dublin History too. You can plainly see the staff love working there. Our room was so comfortable and stylish and the welcome note was a lovely touch. The Horseshoe Bar had the most extensive whiskey collection , but our meal in The Saddle Room was the cherry on the top - we had the Signature menu which is a real treat, and the Dover Sole which was de-boned (on request) by your table adding to the theatre. Our server Filip was a craftsman at his job and a pleasure. Late night drinks in the private residence bar 1824 was also worth the visit, steeped in history and magnicificent paintings, thank you Tom for showing us around. Breakfast time was another special memory thanks to Ava who looked after us, and the Irish Porridge with whiskey, brown sugar and sultanas was special. We are from Ireland, and the The Shelbourne was always held in high esteem and to stay there was very special indeed, thank you all.

Luxury, service, and practical solutions while on the go.

    rating03 May 2026

The hotel is beautiful and the staff was excellent from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We had wonderful room service and the bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to wake up! We can’t wait to come back. A special touch we've never experienced in any other hotel is that The Shelbourne provided us with distilled water for my husband's CPAP machine. Normally he has to make a run to the market to find some even though he's tired from traveling to our destination. The Shelbourne said they keep it on hand so guests aren't inconvenienced. We really appreciated this thoughtfulness from them. Andrew Cumpsty, Other at The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection, responded to this review Dear SES500,Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and uplifting review of your recent stay with us at The Shelbourne. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed every aspect of your visit, from the comfort of your room and bed to the attentiveness of our team and room service. It is especially rewarding to know that the small, practical touches made a meaningful difference to your experience. We are particularly pleased that the provision of distilled water for your husband’s CPAP machine stood out. Anticipating our guests’ needs and removing unnecessary inconveniences—especially after a long journey—is something we genuinely care about, and it is wonderful to know this was appreciated.Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing The Shelbourne.
