  Stormy 50th Birthday Stay

  We stayed at the Monastero for my 50th birthday and I had been looking forward to this night for almost a year. The property is beautiful and the spa experience was phenomenal. We went to the spa immediately upon arrival and spent 2 hours swimming in the old roman cistern and also getting treatments. It was such a unique and special experience! However as our evening progressed we did have some issues. The night we stayed there was a storm and the hallways of the hotel lost power. We had to use the flashlights on our phones to get around as it was completely pitch black, plus the wind and rain was coming through through the window all night long. I do understand this is an extremely old property with original features and windows, but we were only staying for one night and it ended up being a very uncomfortable night and there was no recognition of how much the weather and power issues impacted our stay and ability to enjoy the property. I would have expected a property of this caliber would have at least verbally recognized the inconvenience it caused, especially for what was such a big personal occasion. We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner due to the blackout and instead when down the hill for dinner, but breakfast was very nice in the morning. The spa experience was definitely the highlight of our stay!

  A magical experience

  A former monastery, beautifully restored, and now a splendid hotel in Cortona makes for a very special stay. With every attention to detail and wonderful friendly staff including Matilde on reception and Claudio - master of creative cocktails, in the bar, staying here is a real and memorable treat. The fine dining restaurant in the former refectory surrounded by the remnants of the original frescoes, is excellent. The lovely town on a hill with beautiful views is steps away. Highly recommend this rare and magical place.

  Incredible place - beautiful and relaxing

  We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come again. The architecture and design of the place are absolutely beautiful - it felt like we were staying in a museum. Extremely peaceful location with lots to see and do. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding neighborhoods. Food at the hotel was delicious, and we could never go wrong with the staff picks (they always provided excellent recommendations). Highly recommend anyone to book a stay here.

  Wonderful hotel with Amazing Staff!

  Our two nights here was one of highlights of our two-week vacation in Italy. Matteo, Sara, and the rest of the staff were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in the beautiful Junior Suite Gli Affreschi which had beautiful views. The room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed. We had breakfast and dinner here both days during our stay. The food and service were exceptional.I had emailed the hotel before our stay regarding transportation to the hotel. Sara reserved a taxi for pick-up and return to the train station for us. I highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again!
