  In short, a very miserable experience.

  The communication is difficult, a Grand Hotel should have staff speaking English, and printed folders should be available in English too. The room is dirty regarding deep cleaning: the floors are vacuumed and the bed is made, but the walls are smudged everywhere, the paintings have food crumbs behind the glass, the paint is coming off the walls and ceilings, there are cracks in the walls and there is mold in the shower. You do not get real glasses to drink from in your room, but low quality carton cups. There is no separate shower gel and shampoo, no conditioner or lotion. The water might be safe to drink but has a foul taste. There is no option to reuse towels, they will get replaced every day. The in room fridge is barely functioning, and gets very hot near the light. In the hallway just outside the hotel room, there is a speaker that sounds music, very loudly starting around 7.30 loud enough to hear inside the room, and the opera music makes it sound like there is an emergency right outside the room. The lamps shining on the front of the hotel beam inside the windows of the hotel room, making me have to choose between sleeping in the spotlights or closing the blind out curtains and not waking up with the sun. The breakfast had trouble resetting tables and putting out new cutlery, so you had to hunt down spoons and knives, because they were not provided elsewhere. The chairs in the restaurant almost all have had spills on them, that have not been cleaned. The carpets have uncleaned spills all over them, the baseboards are covered in dust. The public toilets inside of the hotel have a very peculiar smell. There is no wifi in certain spots of the hotel, and the doors to the public bathrooms are very tight, and hard to open and close. In short, a very miserable experience.

  Decent Hotel but can be improved

  Stayed for 2 nights with on a guided tour of Italy. The room felt like a dorm room. I felt guilty that I was placed in a handicap accessible room. The lobby bar was great with an assortment of alcoholic drinks. The breakfast buffet was decent. There was an odd smell in certain areas of the hotel.

  One of our worst hotel stays in Italy. Food not great, rock hard bed, no ac. Avoid this hotel.

  The dinner was not great, service barely adequate. The beds are beyond extra firm and more in the realm of rock hard. Additionally, there is no air conditioning but we didn’t know that and when we called the front desk they didn’t understand and led us to believe it would be fixed. But after doing a little online research I found there is no ac until some time in May. Answer is to open window but we were on a terrace by the bar, which we were told is quiet; or rather they said yes to the question but clearly didn’t understand. It isn’t quiet plus when we opened the window there were smokers on the terrace and that smoke came into the room. Really all this could have been handled better if they had someone on the front desk that either spoke English or would at least indicate they did not understand what you were saying. There’s a lot of glitz at the hotel, nice enough environment but I can’t recommend based on our experience.

  Don’t let them fool you to think this is a 4 star hotel.

  This is not a luxury hotel. We arrived during mid day and after a long train ride wanted to eat something but no, the hotel restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner. So we sat in the lobby planning what to do since it was too early to check in and no food. We reserved spa treatments, dinners and left the bags and got a ride to the entrance of Assisi to go eat and wander around. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, but the patio door was broken and would not lock, air conditioner did not work either. Dinner opened at 7pm, but it was only available for groups, regular customers were allowed in at 730pm. Luckily they were able to accommodate us and seated us far away from all others. Atmosphere is cold and boring. Food was nothing spectacular or high end. Wine did not taste good, no other drink options other than beer and wine. Breakfast was a normal buffet, rotten fruits in a basket and very basic yogurts, cold cuts and pastries. Nothing luxurious. The spa charges were affordable but the spa personnel never showed up. At first I was told they would be there in 5 minutes, then I was told 30 minutes because they were stuck in traffic. Complete lies. Room key didn’t even work on the pool room so one could have sat and waited. The bar uses paper note pads to then charge to your room. Drinks were affordable and the bartender Sean was only other good thing about this hotel. The hotel is far away from Assisi, the hotel shuttle goes 4 times in 24 hours, and the other city bus schedule was no different. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor will I return.

  I gave this two stars because it was clean. Beautiful garden. Honestly, this hotel almost ruined our trip. You will need your own shampoo and tissues. Also lotion. Small rooms with warm refrigerators. NO FANS. Our SMALL room was stifling warm, so we opened the window. Outside the room as was a pole lamp that illuminated the room. Impossible to sleep through the night. If you are on a tour that contracts to eat there, be ready for the worst canned food. Ever. Here we were in the Mecca of culinary delights, being served some of the worst meals I've ever been offered. I stuck with the croissants. They were good. That was the only thing. After three awful mights in this place, I was glad to leave the area.
