  Nice size single (twin bed) room. Very good pastries at the breakfast. The hallway is narrow so you do hear people talking in the hall and in rooms nearby. It is a 15 min walk to the train station, but not in the direction of main city center. The cleaning staff was very friendly, with a big smile every morning.

  We enjoyed a five day stay here, and there is so many good points but much easier to say `it was really great! `Reception staff, breakfast staff and cleaners were all so friendly and helpful. Room was so clean with everything you needed such as toiletries,hair dryer etc. included. Breakfast choice was wide, with so much variety it was difficult to decide, and was constantly filled up.Good restaurant just round the corner, along with a bus stop where you could get a bus right to the funicular taking you up to the old town, which is must to visit.It is certainly worth 5 Tripadvisor stars in our opinion.Aside from the hotel, the town is lovely and the airport first class; the only thing we would point out is the taxis are not cheap in our experience. The train station is very good for visiting Milan, or as we did, take the train to visit Varenna and take the ferry across to Bellagio ( tickets booked through Trainline, and only cost about £20 for 2 return!)If you go to Bergamo, the Citta dei Mille is the place to stay. Grazie anche per le belle parole sulla nostra Città e per i suggerimenti per escursioni vicine (Varenna è un gioiello anche per me). Non mi resta che sperare di rivedervi presto da noi.   Stayed at this hotel 18 years ago, the lobby's interior unchanged, leaving a good traditional feel. The room is clean and quiet at night, bathroom is big enough, breakfast satisfactory and tariff competitive. 15 minutes walking distance to the station but a bit long walk to the fenicular station to reach citta alta, which you must be aware. Passano gli anni, ma noi cerchiamo di abbellire sempre il nostro albergo con importanti lavori di ristrutturazione, come la stesura del parquet al posto della moquette in quattro piani, salvaguardando l'atmosfera "magica" della nostra hall come voi avete generosamente rilevato. Vi rivedremo molto volentieri, per ringraziarvi di persona, magari senza aspettare 18 anni ! Un saluto riconoscente davvero di cuore.

  Lovely stay at the Hotel Città Dei Mille, rooms, staff and continental breakfast all amazing. The location is great too, close to the beautiful Bergamo city centre and also only a short walk to the train station for a direct train into Milan.   We stayed here Friday to Sunday for Christmas weekend break just my wife and me, transfer from the airport is easy just got the airport shuttle to Bergamo centre just as you come out of the airport nice and easy, ticket machine can be set for English so no problems, takes about 20 min and you get off at the station and the hotel is about a 15 min walk from there,We was looking forward to the hotel as the photos looked nice and traditional and we were not disappointed we really liked the lobby reception, the rooms are a bit basic but they do have charm and character and the price was reasonable so no complaints, breakfast was very good in the morning also lots to pick from Restaurants and bars are a 5-10 min walk away, Staff all very nice friendly and helpfulWould stay again if in the area Pier Carlo Capozzi, Direttore generale at Hotel Citta dei Mille, responded to this review Siamo molto felici che il vostro week-end presso di noi sia stato confortevole.
