    Great hotel in a great location.

    We stayed at the Excelsior San Marco for 5 nights in April. The hotel is only around 15-20 mins from the airport which is good. Check in was easy however the staff could be more informative. Our room was on the 6th floor, a lovely room, probably one of the renovated ones. The bathroom was a good size, modern and had a lovely shower. The room was cleaned every day to a high standard and towels replaced. Cleaning staff were very friendly. Breakfast was ok, I had to buy my own oat milk from the supermarket to take to breakfast every morning as the staff said they only had soy has a dairy alternative. This is the first hotel I have had problems asking for dairy alternative. Daily complimentary water in the room is a nice touch. The hotel has a nice lobby area and a small bar that is nice to get a drink in after your evening meal out. There are lots of restaurnats and bars around, prices vary but food and drink were reasonable everywhere. The hotel is around 25 mins walk to the train station and is easy to get trains to other areas. The city of Bergamo has a very lovely atmosphere. We used the funicular once but also walked up to Citta Alta, stunning views and lots of shops and restaurants there too. Some people have said the hotel is dated. I didn't think so at all but maybe that was because we had a renovated room. Would defintely stay again.

    Super location within easy walking distance from the train station.5 minute walk to the funicular to take you to beautiful Citta Alta with it's amazing views.Lovely clean, warm and comfortable hotel with pleasant, helpful staff on hand 24/7.Amazing breakfast catering for every taste, excellent selection.     Every time we visited Bergamo, this hotel caught our eye from the outside, until we finally decided to stay here — and we don’t regret that decision at all. It is a larger hotel, so don’t expect a room with views of the main square or the old town, but our room was clean, comfortable, cozy, and featured a spacious bathroom. Everything needed for a pleasant stay was provided. The reception staff were very kind and spoke good English. Breakfast was absolutely excellent, with a wide selection of options. This hotel is well suited for more demanding travelers.
