  No working air con

  We did not stay.The rooms were not good, no working air con. First room we were given was incredibly hot, humid and smelled damp. The ‘aircon’ was blowing hot air. We reported it as we left for the afternoon and they said they’d send the engineer. When we returned, it was no better. They switched our room, the next room was slightly better but still hot, humid and smelled damp. They again sent the engineer which said that this is the best it will get.The receptionist (had changed from check in) said that the hotel air con works this way. The passageway was noticeably cooler than the bedrooms. I’m not sure why the air con works in communal areas but not the bedrooms. We decided not to stay as anticipated not sleeping well with no working aircon in 35 degree weather. The hotel refused a refund stating that they’d done all they could: changing rooms and sending an engineer. You can send an engineer but you cannot advertise a hotel as having ‘air con’ if you know it doesn’t work effectively and then expect guests to stay when they expect air con but don’t have it.Thankfully our booking was with Hotels.com and they provided assistance. They originally said that it was at the hotels discretion as to whether to provide a refund as the stay had already started. I argued that we couldn’t have known about the issue with the aircon in the rooms before the stay started. Hotels.com called the hotel to try to discuss, the hotel receptionist told the agent that they couldn’t help as people were stuck in the lift. Thankfully after some discussion with Hotels.com they arranged a credit so we could book a new hotel, I assume they followed up with this hotel.Main points: air con doesn’t work, staff ‘did what they could’ but if air con doesn’t work then you shouldn’t advertise it as so. Once you’ve checked in they’ll refuse a refund as the stay has already started. Would not book again.Slight positive side; check in was smooth, the staff member (Andrea) was very friendly and helped us in advance with parking. Location of the hotel is really great with quick access to the historical centre.   Excellent Location and Great Hospitality

  We stayed at Hotel Internazionale for two nights in June and had a very pleasant experience.The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the heart of Bologna’s historic centre, with all the main attractions within easy walking distance. For guests travelling with a dog, the nearby park is an added bonus. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Breakfast offered a great selection of fresh and tasty food, making for a perfect start to the day.A thoughtful touch was the complimentary chilled fruit-infused water available at reception throughout the day. It was especially appreciated during the hot summer weather.The only small suggestion for improvement concerns sustainability. The water dispenser was accompanied by disposable plastic cups.   Very happy with our experience in this hotel. Staff friendly and efficient, spacious clean room with a comfortable bed. Quiet at night even with being next to street. Great variety of foods for breakfast, with plenty of staff topping everything up constantly.   A well located city centre hotel

  I was visiting Bologna for three nights on a mini break with friends and selected this hotel primarily because of its central location. I had reserved a single room on a bed and breakfast tariff . We arrived by taxi from the airport . Access to the hotel is not easy as the cities tramway system is currently being installed throughout the city so a lot of roadworks to deal with.We were given a warm reception from staff and check in was swift allowing us to quickly get our rooms and then find a local restaurant.The whole hotel is quite old fashioned and we did notice things like thread bare carpets however the room was clean and kitted out as you would expect. Kettle minibar hair drier toiletries etc. My room was located on the third floor and had a bath with over head shower as well as a bidet . The air con worked reasonably well given the extreme weather conditions and room service changed my towels every day.The bed was comfortable and I slept well during my stay not experiencing street noise as other reports have suggested. Perhaps this was due to the construction work.Breakfast in the morning was a buffet service and provided most items I would expect for a hotel of this standard. I did not experience any shortages and there was plenty of waiters to hand.The hotel is located very well for trains and buses and is also within walking range for the cities sightseeing points . It also has an abundance of restaurants about and the ones we experienced were all great value.The checkout time of 12 noon is generous and allows some late sightseeing or shopping before departure.I would certainly recommend this hotel for a mini break stay.   If you are looking for a surprise visit from hotel staff in the middle of the night then this is the place for you!

  Staff entered my room in the middle of the night!Great location between the train station and Piazza Maggiore on the via dell’independenzia. Room was clean. Weather was quite warm during my visit and air conditioning was minimally effective with room still quite warm even after many hours of running the A/C. Shower rather small and I either bumped the shower handle or door frequently and refrigerator did not work, Hotel staff knocked on my door at 23:30 awakening me and by the time I got to the door the staff had opened the door and started to come in. The two staff (desk person with dark curly hair and a porter) said “sorry Mr. XXXXX” and ran off. Given they called me by my name they must have known it was my room and why they came in while I was sleeping I have no idea. I asked the next morning and did not get an answer. Also provided my contact information for the manager to contact me about this and as I am writing this 5 days after departing I still have not been contacted by the manager.
