  A good stay

  We stayed here for four nights whilst exploring nearby cities. We were dealt with promptly when checking in and had a room on the fourth floor. We had a premium room and it was fantastic for space and very clean. There was access to a minibar, hanging closet, big bathroom with shower and bath and then a huge bedroom with tv. We also had a window which opened out. For a few days the maid left us a carton of water but this stopped and we had to ask. I think the hotel should do this daily especially when it is hot weather outside. The location is really convenient for using the train station. Literally a 2 minute walk. However it does have a strange location in terms of some homeless or challenging members of society who would drink close to where the hotel was. The walk into the main centre of Bologna is probably between 20-30 mins and this has less of these problems. We enjoyed our stay, the hand lotion and body wash smelt amazing also.   A perfect 8-night stay!

  Have just returned from a wonderful 8-night stay at the NH de la Gare.We had a Junior Suite and a Superior Room. Both were modern, very clean and functional. The Junior Suite was very large, with floor-to-ceiling windows that led onto a massive rooftop terrace, where we enjoyed having our breakfast every morning.The bathrooms were also very clean and functional (be aware the shower in our Junior Suite had a step up, so may not be suitable for some people). Amenities were lovely and the daily housekeeping was always on point. And the air-conditioning worked perfectly (considering I was there during the heat of August).We tried the room service for both breakfast and dinner, and loved it. The breakfasts in particular were so lavish! Every morning there would be trays of fruit, cakes, toast, scrambled eggs, cereals, juices & coffee brought to our room, and we were able to enjoy it on our private terrace. Such a great way to start the day! And the room-service dinners were also nice. I particularly liked the tagliatelle with ragu. The food quality in general was excellent.The hotel's public areas are very stylish too. A modern lobby with chilled music and refreshing lemon water served on hot days.The hotel's location is perfect, about a 4-minute walk from the train station, which was very handy for us as we were using Bologna as a base for a number of day trips. At the same time, there was no train noise at all. It is also just across the square from the start of Via Indipendenza, a lovely arcade-lined street that will take you to the Piazza Maggiore in about a 20-minute walk.The best part about this hotel was, however, the staff. A wonderful bunch of people who made our stay extra special. Particular thanks must go to Mattia, Irene, Felipe and Francesco in food & beverage, who were sooo lovely, friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to deal with them every day. Special mention to Mattia who was particularly good at his job and who helped us out from the very first night. Also thanks to Silvia, Erica, José and Tommaso on the front desk, who were similarly obliging and professional.I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bologna, and hope to have the pleasure of staying here again if I ever return myself.   Excellent location, nice rooms and friendly staff

  Excellent location, less than a 5 minute walk to the train station. Nice clean and quiet modern rooms with comfy beds and a good breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially with recommendation for where to eat and what to see.The hotel is also a short walk from the most important (and beautiful) street in Bologna, and a roughly 15-20 minutes walk to the historic center.They provided free water on the first day, which was nice. It would have been great if they had continued this kindness as the temperatures in Italy were soaring above 35 C each day. Other hotels on our trip did this. The only "negative" was the very small shower in an otherwise large and very tidy bathroom. We have stayed at a couple of NH hotels now, and they are becoming one of our favorite Go-to places for stays. A small gym is also available.   Really lovely hotel, in a great location

  Arrived early but the staff allowed us to check in which was much appreciated.Room overlooked the area at the side of the hotel, with the steps leading up to the park. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Air con worked perfectly ( thank goodness !)Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice of different items.In a great location. 5 minutes to the station, around the corner from one of the main shopping streets, leading down to the main piazza.If you have time, take the train to Ravenna to see the mosaics. Would definitely stay again if we ever went back to Bologna !   Great location! Good Gluten free options at hotel & nearby

  Good location, 20 mins walk to Piazza Maggiore. And 5 mins from the station. We didn’t hear any train noise so that was good too. Hotel clean, friendly staff , great little bar after a long day walking. Gluten free section at breakfast. Not extensive but enough. Knowledgeable staff. Great selection of restaurants to near the hotel. If you’re Gluten free I’d recommend restaurants La Verace for wood fired pizza and pasta that all the locals eat at too.
