    Very convenient location for the train station and tourist bus. A distance to old Bologna but as we had two day hop on hop off bus ticket that was fine. A nice breakfast. Consistent WiFi. The reception staff seemed inexperienced, rushed and unable to understand requests. We should have had slippers and a kettle. These were requested although one pair of slippers at first which was surprising as there were two of us. A comfortable bed. Disappointing that their plumber had to fix our toilet which stopped flushing. Had a temporary fix first and then the following day was permanently sorted. The fire alarm went off and I rang reception to see what was happening and no one answered. We used the fire exit to walk down to reception only to find no information as reception didn’t know what had happened. We were very shocked that there was nobody on each floor reassuring guests. The room was very clean. We certainly wouldn’t consider staying here again. Customer service poor.

    Loved having a bathtub

    Right across the street from the train station. Very clean hotel and loved that it had a bathtub. This hotel may be in a very busy location but it was with a great view and actually had two windows which I have never seen before which made it so quiet.We paid extra for breakfast which was 15E each but we found it worth it to be able to have a good breakfast in the hotel before heading out.     All good except the noisy air con

    A highly professional establishement at a very convenient location. Our room was spacious (including the shower) and all seem to be modern and up to date. There was a little bit sound from the corridor, but not from rooms nextdoor. The air condition was very noisy so we switched off and kept the window open, sleep was OK but some noise from birds and traffic at the back. Breakfast was very good and very good service, but a very busy area during morning rush. Relatively expensive, but that is perhaps the price to pay.     Perfect location in Bologna!

    This is a very nice hotel and I would have given it 5 stars except for 2 reasons. First, the good stuff. You can't beat this location if you are staying in Bologna or traveling on a series of day trips to Florence, Venice, Modena, etc. The train station is directly across the street. I thought this may cause noise but the hotel was extremely quiet. You can also get the high speed trains from there. The rooms are a nice size, good closet space, nice toiletries in the room. Our room was cleaned every day which is a nice change from the USA. Every staff member we encountered was wonderful, helpful, spoke English, and treated us so well. They even arranged breakfast boxes for our early morning departure and called us a van to take us and our 4 suitcases for the airport. There was one man who works the desk (I didn't catch his name but he's very tall with a mustache!) and he was wonderful for the entire week. Now, the two things I would change: The temperature of the room was very hot. We tried to turn on the air in our room but it never worked. We opened the windows to help cool off the room. Second, the breakfast needs to change a bit each day. We had the same items over and over which wasn't great. However, what was served was very nice and plentiful. Great coffee machines and great staff. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Bologna and plan to utilize the train station often.     I am writing to formally report a lack of conformity between the room description at the time of booking and the actual conditions experienced during my stay at Starhotels Excelsior Bologna.The room was advertised as equipped with air conditioning. However, the system was either centrally disabled or not functioning in cooling mode, resulting in a room with stale air, no proper ventilation, and an uncomfortably high temperature, especially during the night.This situation made the room significantly below acceptable comfort standards and inconsistent with what was contractually offered. A room with air conditioning should ensure adequate temperature control or, at minimum, proper air circulation and thermal comfort.Despite raising the issue, no effective solution was provided to restore acceptable conditions (such as cooling, ventilation, or an alternative room).Under basic consumer expectations and service conformity principles, this constitutes a failure to deliver the service as described at the time of booking.I would therefore expect appropriate acknowledgment of this issue and a fair compensation for the discomfort and the discrepancy between the advertised and delivered service.
