Location

This luxurious hotel is located right at the heart of Bologna, directly on the Via Indipendenza, the city's main shopping street. Countless shops and boutiques may be found in the vicinity and various sights of interests such as the Piazza Maggiore are also situated in close proximity (within 700 m). The sea and the nearest beach are 100 km from the hotel, the closest golf course is 30 km away. G.Marconi Bologna airport is easily reached by making use of public transport; the journey takes approximately 20 minutes.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1850. Units include 21 single rooms and 75 double rooms located in a 5-storey main building and a 4+Keller-storey auxiliary building. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Services such as a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are a number of shops as well. Rooms

    Horrendous air conditioning, misleading staff - stay away!

    We stayed for two nights as a family of three in room 336 at the Zanhotel Tre Vecchi from 11 July to 13 July. Right after checking in during the late afternoon on 11 July, we realised the hotel air conditioning was unable to go below 26 degrees Celsius most of the time. This made the room uncomfortable. Upon complaining to the manager, he asked a colleague, Farouk, to check the room and afterwards they said a room could be changed the next day if the temperature does not come down. The temperature did not come down, and opening the windows was not an option because of the loud insect and street noise. I was not impressed with the way my complaint was dismissed.The next morning, 12 July, we complained about the situation again and the male manager at the desk went to the room and changed the air conditioning setting to ‘sun’ mode. He requested we wait for the temperature to come down to the low twenties. When we returned to the room in the evening, the temperature stayed the same (see photo). And then the management said we could not change rooms. We felt the team was deflecting the problem and not being upfront to us that the air conditioning is not like those in other hotels that we and our friends have stayed in Italy. Empty promises of changing to a like-for-like room were made and not honoured. They even said we could move to another hotel with their arrangement, but this was not done. As a result, we felt misled by the team and had such an unpleasant stay in a stuffy room for two nights. We then read at least two reviews on Tripadvisor regarding incidents of the air conditioning not working, yet the duty manager on the evening of 11 July said this was the first time he had heard about an air conditioner that does not work. We have stayed in various hotels in Italy and this was the first time we were encountering this issue.We are not happy about this situation but the management of Zanhotel fully dismissed our complaint and did not offer any form of compensation. We feel we should be compensated for being misled and not being told upfront that the room will not be cooled to 22 degree Celsius. This is because we would have requested a refund and then move to another hotel if the staff members have been upfront. In short, if you have the budget to stay in this hotel, look elsewhere! At the very least, you'll have a cooler experience!

    Warm & efficient check in on arrival. We found Our room & it was very very small &on the 2nd floor, we could not believe we were actually in a Double Room & later noticed that the same room next door was in fact a single, the best thing I can say is that it was kept very clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was the best part. Apart from that everything had been “pared the the bone”, just 3 hangers in the wardrobe, no tea/coffee facilities, 2 tiny bottles of water & the air con did not work however once reported it was made to work. We had stayed here previously and the Hotel has definitely changed & not for the better, very sad to see! Unfortunately the City’s tramline major road works are currently right outside the hotel so there is noise, dust & dirt all the time, do not know when this is due to finish? Hopefully things may improve for the better once the works are completed m?To end on high note, Breakfast was in the basement and there was a good variety of hot & cold & sweet & savoury variety, the staff there were generally helpful

    My suitcases were vandalized inside hotel room and the hotel have been refused to take responsibility! Even with police checking, photos of the damages and report did in the police station.The hotel is very basic and I definitely had a terrible experience at the hotel. It's difficult to say anything positive. The behavior of the managers and director was disrespectful to me (a customer). Be careful! I don't recommend the hotel to anyone!People with access to the rooms were looking for money inside suitcases, 2 rooms were vandalized in the same period. I always lock my suitcases when I leave the hotel, but this must have caught the attention of people looking for money. Thankfully, nothing was stolen. On 17th May, we left the hotel around 9:30 a.m. and returned around 8:40 p.m. The door to our room was closed, and everything seemed normal. However, when we entered the room, we immediately noticed that two of our three suitcases had been vandalized; one had a broken lock and zipper, and the padlock was missing; the other had a broken lock, the fabric around the locker was torn, and pieces of the lock were on the floor. I immediately reported the incident to reception. At that moment, another guest was at the reception reporting a similar case. The receptionist was calling the police and also reported my case. The police arrived quickly and checked the room. They found no signs of forced entry on the door (which had an electronic lock) or the windows, but they did see that the suitcases had been vandalized. I went to the police station to make a formal report of the incident in order to obtain compensation from the hotel for the damage suffered. I handed the police report to the receptionist and to Mr. Roberto (the director), who said that the hotel could do nothing and that I would now have to resolve the issue with the police directly. The next morning, we asked him again about the hotel's position regarding our case and when we could expect to receive compensation for the damage to our suitcases. One of the employees smiled dismissively while Mr. Roberto said that it was not that simple. He said that, because we had reported the vandalism to the police, the case would be between the police, me and my lawyer.At that point, we realized that the director and the other hotel staff were refusing to take responsibility and were simply ignoring the fact that the suitcases had been broken/vandalized inside the hotel.

    The hotel was in an excellent location, right at the beginning of a large shopping street near the railway station. At first, we got a room on the second floor, which was a bit outdated and unbearably hot (reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius). We managed to change to a room on the third floor, apparently a suite. This room had a comfortable temperature and was significantly more modern than the one on the lower floor. Breakfast was relatively plentiful; in Southern European style, it included many sweet options, but there was also something healthy. The staff was friendly.

    The hotel was spacious and beautiful! They had a great breakfast in the morning. I appreciated the accessory kit because it had essentials that I had left at home. The staff was professional and helpful during the entire stay. I would stay there again!
