Having never been to Reggio Calabria before, I initially searched for chain hotels that I was familiar with. After not finding any, I fortunately booked 2 nights here and was delighted with our experience. From our initial warm greeting by friendly Eka, to our dinner at the rooftop restaurant (Gala) with great views of Momma Etna and the strait, to a comfortable bed and bath with plenty of amenities, the entire stay was really great. And the breakfast! This was our 16 hotel night in Italy this trip and breakfast rivaled those at other hotels that were twice the nightly rate. So if you're considering booking, don't hesitate. It's definitely an older style hotel but the service, food, and cleanliness were 5 star.

The moment you walk through the door, you realize that this hotel oozes heritage and class. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this elegant hotel, which has a wonderful ambience. Our room was well equipped and offered a lovely view of the sea. The breakfast room was absolutely delightful, with an unobstructed view of Mount Etna. Breakfast itself was good, with a nice selection of mostly fresh items. However, there is an additional charge for some extras, such as scrambled eggs (€5), eggs and bacon (€7), and salmon (€12). We found this rather odd for a four-star hotel, but it seems to be quite common in Italy. Despite this, we felt that this was by far the best four-star hotel we stayed at during our trip. The staff were also very accommodating when we asked for a late check-out (12 p.m. instead of 11 a.m.), which allowed us to vacate the room and head straight to the airport. The short walk to the main pedestrian shopping area and the lovely beach is another real plus. Highly recommended!

Great Location, Dated Accommodations

We had one of their Executive suites. The room was very spacious and bright. It had a nice balcony with views of the Mount Etna and the Strait of Messina. The location was close to shopping, museums, beach and the Lungomare. The staff were genuine, but not gracious. The overnight desk staff were most hospitable. My rating would be higher, but the hotel needs to be renovated. The public spaces are fine, the guest rooms and corridors need a refresh for sure.
