    Hoped for more.

The hotel is located on a hillside; you should be good on your feet, especially in the heat it is extremely strenuous. The small town itself offers a small shop for daily necessities. You can get to the beach using the hotel's shuttle. Breakfast is okay. Mostly pre-made items in plastic portions, jam, honey, yogurt, butter. Canned fruit. There is warm scrambled egg. The apartment was disappointing, very dated, but we were only in it to sleep, otherwise out and about with a rental car, otherwise you are stuck there. No connection to the nearest larger town. (13 km to Tropea)In the bathroom, I would have at least liked a trash can; the sink was not secure and the shower was for a slim person. A place to sit, for example an armchair, would also not have been bad. Instead, there were 6 uncomfortable chairs at the kitchen table. We made the best of it, but the hotel in no way corresponds to 4 stars. Half board consists of a set menu. It was tasty but dragged on every evening. As a vegetarian, I was fortunately still able to find something on the children's menu. The Calabrian buffet evening was well-intentioned, but by the time we reached the front of the line, the first platters were already empty. Very, very disappointing; the dining hall is like a cafeteria, very loud and not at all appealing. The staff is always friendly, especially Michele at the front desk. He saved our vacation. Wonderful vacation thanks to the staff and the facility, but the kitchen needs to be reviewed.

The village is very beautiful and well-kept; it is located inside a splendid pine forest very well maintained by the gardener, who is present every day, and the apartments are very comfortable, equipped with a refrigerator, kitchen, and outdoor space with a table and umbrella. The beach is not the most beautiful in the area, but we are still on the Coast of the Gods, and the sea, once you get past the first rocks at the shore, is stupendous. Diego the lifeguard, moreover, is of rare kindness and helpfulness, as is pretty much all the staff who work there, starting with Michele, Franco, Giuseppe, and the rest of the staff, always present and helpful, cordial, and uniquely kind. The pearl of the village is the entertainment... Giusy, impeccable, managed to drag even my oldest daughter into the games without being too pushy; Danilo, very sweet, took care of the muscle awakening and pool activities in a very professional manner despite the excessive heat, and finally, Elisa and Valentina were also always present and very sweet. A sore point, unfortunately, is the food... we discovered after a few days that due to a serious problem, they found themselves without a chef, difficult to replace in high season, and even though they tried to patch up the situation, apart from two or three well-executed dishes, for the rest, the kitchen needs improvement, with courses not worthy of a 4-star hotel both for the choice of dishes, the quality and quantity of the products, and the cooking of the same; just as an example, in 10 days they served us carbonara (in Calabria) twice, the first time with speck and the second time with bacon, in both cases, among other things, sliced! Side dishes were almost non-existent (there is not even a buffet provided); I understand the difficulty of the moment, but Calabria is rich in tasty dishes, including cured meats, cheeses, ricottas, vegetables in oil, potatoes, etc., and perhaps they could have focused on a nice, rich appetizer that did not require a high level of preparation (instead, even there, apart from the typical evening, we had to settle for 3 frozen appetizers in total, or on several occasions a small plate with a square of frittata with hot dogs or green beans, or 3 slices (in total) of cold cuts... on the contrary, breakfast was rich and included sweet and savory options. Aside from the food, the environment, the facility, and the friendliness of the staff were impeccable and made our vacation pleasant nonetheless. I hope to return soon and find a kitchen with a level appropriate for the facility so as to make our next vacation unforgettable. Originally submitted in Italian on www.tripadvisor.it. Exceptionally pleasant in just 4 days.

Excellent discovery. The village is in a beautiful pine forest, maintained overall with plants and flowers impeccably by the gardener, and the cleanliness of the villas is commendable. Beautiful and large swimming pool, with an excellent sea one minute away by shuttle, driven in turns by the exceptional village staff, even after hours. Very good cuisine despite a significant problem solved by the owner's wife. It is not the 4 stars that make the village, but the 5 stars of the entire staff, from the owner Franco, to the waiters, to the lifeguard Diego, to the entertainment guys, and to the legendary Michele who is unique, but seems to have two twins on duty because of how much he does a day, always with a big smile. In short, a beautiful landscape, a sea like few others in Italy, and the entire staff make the Petto Bianco village the number one out of the 70 in the entire coastal area. We have traveled around Italy for 20 years, but we have rarely found such friendliness and familiarity as here. This experience is absolutely not to be missed.Giancarlo Bravini Originally submitted in Italian on www.tripadvisor.it. View originals.

    Relaxing holiday

We spent wonderful 2 weeks in September at Hotel Pineta Petto Bianco. Very relaxed environment. Kind and calm staff and pleasant people on vacation. The hotel staff is very helpful and kind, they speak many languages. Cleaners are excellent and do a very good job. A wonderful and delicious meal. The hotel territory is large and green, the rooms are spacious and cozy. Pool is large and clean, the water is warm.Hotel has its own beach with free beach chairs and umbrellas. We especially liked the fact that there are not too many tourists in the resort. The beach was nice and the water was clean. The beach restaurant had delicious food and refreshing drinks. There is a well-selected shop in the village, where you can find gifts and delicious local delicacies. We would love to go back to this hotel someday. We send warm greetings to the hotel family!

    Wonderful stay

    rating24 Sept 2013

Recently returned home from a wonderful stay in this lovely little resort. We were the only English guests (predominantly German) and only one employee spoke good English, but this did not affect our stay. The waiters were incredibly cheerful and polite, and the kitchen provided tasty fresh food, and a wonderful gluten-free menu for me. The pool was clean and quiet, the beach was well kept, with crystal clear water, and there were lots of things to see and do in the area. We hired a car from Lamezia Terme airport, and I believe this gave us the best option for seeing Calabria. Tropea was stunning, and Pizzo was well worth a visit, but for the best views, go to the top of Capo Vaticano at sunset, and visit groticelli beach on a sunny day. We will return, and hopefully take a boat trip out to the Aolian isles and watch the volcano erupting! All in all, a lovely unspoilt, non commercialised place, with lovely people, especially Michele on reception and the waiters Francesco and Antonio! One word of warning, is the area is fairly steep in places, so may not suit people with mobility issues (I struggled at times!).
