This attractive hotel is surrounded by wonderful gardens and enjoys breathtaking views out over the island, the Bay of Naples, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi coastline. The centre of Anacapri is just a short distance away, as is the chair lift that will take guests to the highest point on the island, Monte Solaro. It is equally just a few paces to the famous Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe and the town centre where guests will discover various shopping venues, countless bars and restaurants as well as many entertainment venues is a 5-minute walk away. Public transport departs from stops close by (approximately 5 minutes walk) and bewitching views are to be had out over Capri Marina from the hotel's terrace. The nearest inviting beach lies some 2 km away down a flight of steps and the Capri (Piazetta) is approximately 3 km from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1892. The hotel has a lift and features 60 rooms, including 5 single rooms. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Services such as a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We booked NINE months in advance with “pay at property.” Instead, they tried to charge a card the morning of our stay — while we were literally in the air flying into Naples — and because that card had been compromised, they decided to cancel our reservation and give away our room. Their “solution”? An email demanding a response within 30 minutes. I saw it 36 minutes after landing, immediately called them with a valid card, and they smugly told me they had already given away our booking.The man I spoke with could not have been ruder if he tried. Not only was he dismissive, but he actually had the audacity to blame US for their incompetence. No effort to help, no shred of decency, just attitude and indifference. We were traveling for our wedding and they truly could not have cared less.This is hands down the most unprofessional and arrogant hotel I’ve ever dealt with. Do yourself a favor: book literally anywhere else unless you want your trip ruined by people who have no respect for their guests or their own commitments.

    The best panoramic view of entire Capri Island!

    One of the best Life experiences! They have great swimming pool, REAL Italian fresh food and stunning views from basically the entire hotel. The breakfast hall itself offers 180 view of Naples bay, Capri town and the sea up to Amalfi Coast! Simply breathtaking! The food is so delicious, they cook for locals as many locals celebrate events there so you can try authentic Italian/ Capri style of food cooked with love and fresh ingredients. That really makes a difference! Children friendly yet it is really quite. There is also a huge garden and fountain.Fresh breeze is always present so you will never struggle with sweat and heat. Simply amazing.PS: ask to see the terrace on the first floor....that is OMG!

    Having booked without reading some of the negative reviews - which I saw only a day or so before we set off - I was in a somewhat anxious state when we arrived on Capri, not knowing what to expect. In fact, having only ever stayed in the main part of Capri's town area, it was bliss being in Anacapri at the lovely Hotel San Michele. We arrived to a beautiful room with huge terrace, perhaps there were some minor issues - ie the terrace which I think was still having repainting or something, but overall it was so clean and comfortable - a wonderful bed for good sleeping, lovely pillows, a mosquito screen to ensure a bite-free night and a bathroom that was clean and probably newly-installed. Our terrace was vast with a lovely pool view - and the side faced out to sea for the sunset. All the conveniences of a good hotel - safe, coffee and tea, fridge etc... were present, and the staff were lovely. The pool bar staff provided us with trays of salads or snacks on our terrace in the evenings as there wasn't a functioning restaurant in the hotel outside of the pool bar - which was great with a big choice. There was an evening bar in the hotel which we went to once, but our terrace was so perfect for the evenings that we preferred to stay on it. Anacapri was much quieter and authentic - and I felt again the character of old Capri that I missed from earlier trips in the 80s - which I felt had been eradicated by designer shopping and day-trippers in overwhelming numbers. But we still had some fun evenings in Capri once things quietened down and the day trips ended. I'd recommend San Michele as a truly lovely place to stay, and, oh yes, not forgetting that huge pool - great swimming to be had!

    The location and breakfast is amazing. It has very big pool, the views are amazing and the rooms are so clean, just a bit old (I had some issues with the water in my bathroom but the staff was very kind, they got me additional towels to put them on the floor). It smells very nice and the whole hotel is very clean.

    We have had another fantastic holiday at San Michele and thank you to the team there. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are all courteous and kind and have worked there for years, so we know them all well. We have booked again for 2026. Views are incredible and rooms comfortable and very clean. Highly recommend.
