    Worst service ever - everything request was answered with a NO and required negotiation

    First of all, we checked into our room and the gifted petit fors as a welcome had a bite taken out of one of them. We stayed for 5 nights and our Air conditioning did not work for the first 2 nights. We called and asked for an engineer repeatedly and each day they said they sent an engineer while we were away and it should be working now. It was NOT. Day 3 we stayed at the hotel until the engineer came. He flipped the circuit breaker that was in our room and it was fixed. They clearly did not send anyone while we were away. One night we wanted to have dinner at Punta Tragara and asked the concierge to call and book us a table for dinner. The concierge Antonino asked why do we want to go there. They are fully booked. he suggested we go to another place in town where his friend worked and make sure we tell him Antonino sent us. We didn’t want to go to town so we went to Punta Tragara anyway to take our chances. They welcomed us with open arms and told us no one called from the hotel. Clearly the staff at Scalinatella are getting kickbacks for sending customers to certain places. There is no proper restaurant at Scalinatella and the staff follow so many restrictions on where you can eat, sit etc. The breakfast is subpar. The same limited pastries everyday. They did not get my eggs right a single day. I ordered an egg white omelette with cheese. They had avocado on the side the first day but after that they were always out of avocado. And the omelette was so salty it was inedible and they kept adding various ingredients I did not order. The two highlights were Tito our server at breakfast who was very sweet and Luigi who was very nice as well. Be sure you ask for a renovated room. They have many rooms and each is different.

    I am so grateful I found this wonderful hotel in Capri. When traveling we look the best we can at many spots that are special not knowing if it truly aligns with our journey.Hotel La Scalintella truly aligned with every thought I had about being the most perfect spot. I went in early April. I was greeted by the most lovely person at the concierge desk. She greeted us with a glass of champagne and immense warmth. She introduced me to the staff who came to greet me. Oh so lovely!!One evening I wanted a glass of wine and they were quick to bring it to our room with a tray of nuts and olives. I didnt really want to bother them, I wanted to get the glass of wine and take it to my room. They cared so much that it was perfect and they brought it right down.The entire staff was so wonderful I can't share all of the stories. They guided and helped every aspect of my journey from making suggestions for walking to the Arche to restaurants, to making sure I went to different little spots that were so precious.

    Our stay at Hotel La Scalinatella was honestly one of the most special hotel experiences we’ve ever had in our lives. I truly cannot say enough good things about the people here.Marco and Giovanni at Casa Morgano were absolutely wonderful — so warm, attentive, welcoming, and genuinely lovely every single time we saw them. The food was incredible, the service was seamless, and every meal felt relaxed, elegant, and special. You can tell there is so much pride and care behind everything they do there.The pool attendants were also amazing and so attentive throughout our stay. Every detail felt thoughtful and effortless.But the true heart of this hotel is the front desk staff. I genuinely mean it when I say they MADE our anniversary trip. Their kindness, warmth, professionalism, generosity, and attention to detail completely transformed our experience in Capri. Every single person we interacted with made us feel cared for in such a genuine and human way. It never felt performative or transactional — just incredibly thoughtful hospitality from people who clearly care deeply about what they do.There was such an ease and warmth to the service that made the hotel feel emotional to leave honestly. We felt celebrated, welcomed, and taken care of the entire stay.Capri is already magical, but the people at La Scalinatella made this trip unforgettable for us. You have GOT to stay in La Scalinatella if you can when visiting Capri. We will talk about this stay for years. Grazie mille for everything! Xx

    Wonderful Capri surprise

    This hotel is our favorite in this Italy trip. A truly special stay. The views from our room were stunning — you wake up to the sea. The room itself is beautifully designed with real character, not the generic luxury hotel look you see everywhere.We were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade upon arrival, which set the tone for the entire stay. Dominic was exceptional throughout — attentive, thoughtful, and never overdoing it. He struck that perfect balance of being there when you need him and giving you space when you don’t. Julia was incredibly helpful with concierge recommendations and made planning our time on the island effortless.

    The value and the service for a super high price do not match

    My wife and I have been staying in this Hotel for four nights. Very cool atmosphere. For over € 1.300 per night we expected to be treated as guests and did not want to hear about all the things the hotel is not able to deliver. Very obvious was that all the personnel did not seem to be experienced. It was obvious that most of them where new. In our opinion this stay was a 5+++ star price for a 3 star expierience. To the contrary is Villa Magherita. The employees and owners are real hosts and on top of it, this hotel serveres not only great food super wines in a splendid atmosphere with very experienced longterm personal. And now the best, the costs are considerably less than half what Scalinatella costs. 5 star Service and ambience for a 3 star price!
