  A Room With A View

  The hotel is located across from the Lake Como so it’s a short walk to the pier. We got a room with a balcony to sit on with an unobstructed view of the lake. Sweet! The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of light. What more could you ask for. Also for once a truly clean room. I highly recommend this hotel and if I’m ever in Lake Como again I’ll be staying here.The hotel dinner was OK it started out with an appetizer of risotto, but the rice was a little more al dente than I would’ve liked. The next course took so long to come out I thought we were only getting the risotto. The waitress must’ve been new cause she didn’t seem to have a clue of what she was doing.   All good at Hotel Barchetta

  Great location. We could walk to a number of restaurants, shopping and the ferry port is directly across the street. The best cleaning service ever. The view from our balcony was beautiful - looking right at the lake and ferry port. The breakfast was good, but got monotonous after 15 days. Bar service was very good. Restaurant food was very good also, but an expanded menu would have had us eating there a few more times. It is without hesitation that I would recommend this hotel.

  MAJOR NOISE ISSUE! Loud alarms ruined our sleep 2 out of 3 nights we stayed. They went on till 02:00.

  Don’t stay here! We were disturbed on 2 nights over our 3 night stay by a loud recurring alarm from the neighbouring building (currently having extensive building work). It was so loud I could hear it even with double glazing, ear plugs and holding a pillow over my ears. This significantly disrupted our sleep with the alarm going on/off until around 02:00 on the first night and until 01:00 on the third night. We complained after the first night and staff informed us that this happens when it’s windy!! After it happened again on the third night, we spoke to a manager. He also confirmed that this had happened before (due to wind), and it was an issue they’d been aware of for at least a month. Having not reached a satisfactory resolution with the hotel, we are now complaining through Booking.com.   Nice location, too pricey.

  Booked a junior suite with lake view. We were assigned a junior suite with a minimal lake view. I complained and we were upgraded to a regular suite with a perfect lake view because they were out of junior suites with lake views. Hotel restaurant is not luxurious but the food is quite good and the service was excellent. Great first night meal after a long drive from Florence. Parking is two blocks away at the Palace Hotel. You unload bags, check in, drive to the garage, and walk back (in the rain on our arrival day). No valet! For €850 per night we expected more. I guess that is the price of staying in downtown Como. Staff is really wonderful not even considering the upgrade. Lots of shopping and great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We stayed here because of close proximity to ferry docks. Turns out you can only book slow boat (2.5 hours to Bellagio) rides on line. The fast (45 minute) rides must be booked in person at the dock. Concierge said you need to get to the dock at 07:30 to get a one way for that day. Then, right after arriving in Bellagio, book your return trip if you want fast boat back to Como. Something to consider.Compared to other hotels in this price range I would rate this one as good but not excellent.   Great location, a bit dated

  This hotel is very conveniently located, close to everything and situated steps from the waterfront. The breakfast buffet included a wide and varied mix of nice breakfast items, fruit, yogurt, hot and cold drinks. Very satisfying start to each day. The room was ok. The bathroom in our room was old and dated, and honestly didn't smell very "fresh" because of that. It has both a toilet and a separate bidet, both of which could stand to be replaced. The tub was oddly shaped with a rounded bottom, so standing the the shower was a bit of a balancing act. The days we stayed in early April were hot and sunny, and the air conditioning had not yet been turned on. We had to sleep the first night with the bedroom window wide open, with no screen, in order to get fresh air and the room cool rough to sleep. The A/C was turned on the next day, but we couldn't turn it up enough to get the room cool, so we still had to sleep with the window open. It was no biggie, but if things were updated, it would be much more impressive.
