    Good breakfast, tiny room

    rating02 Jul 2025

The staff is very nice and the breakfast is excellent. Location conveniently near Lake Como. But my room was tiny. Housekeeping was bit intrusive, doing things like moving my laundered clothing around and throwing out a clean plastic bag that I was saving to use for travel.

    a great value hotel

    rating03 May 2025

Great value hotel... I've styed at this hotel three times now and always found it a pleasant place to stay... The hotel staff are friendly, and they have lots of different size rooms to accommodate all styles of travellers... as a solo traveller they have a number of single rooms at great prices... the larger San Giavanni train station is approx' 5-10 minutes walk, and the smaller Como Lago train station, and the centre of town, is about 10-15 minutes walk away... all in all, good value.

    We always stay here

    rating17 Oct 2024

This is our 4th stay at the Park Hotel and we recommend it highly. They have updated the rooms since our last pre-pandemic stay and the room decor and bathrooms were very nice. The beds were especially comfortable - just firm enough but not hard. I slept well.As a family run hotel, customer service at the front desk is the best. We also really enjoy the breakfast, with its variety of options.Just down the street is an excellent market - open 24/7 - as I need fresh fruit to be happy. Another couple blocks and there is superb gelato, especially the chocolate. Our room was spotlessly clean and housekeeping came every day. Others have mentioned the lack of air-conditioning in late spring. Italy has rules about when air-conditioning can be turned on in public buildings. This is not a sleek, shiny hotel, but rather a home away from home, family place, well-run and comfortable. We hope to return soon.

    Quaint, affordable and great location

    rating28 Aug 2024

As you enter the hotel you are met with some charming decor. The staff in the hotel including waiting staff for serving breakfast were all very friendly. Absolutely no issues with anyone. The hotel is in a fabulous location, it is about ten minutes walk to Como town centre and the ferry port. It is close to a 24/7 market which is a pleasant food shop, not your cheap basic local but also not extortionate. It was a great market especially convenient for those of you like me that needs water all the time..to note, the drinking water in Como is safe apparently and I have had no issues drinking from the tap. I am quite the water snob as I live and come from Scotland who have the one of the world's best drinking water supply. The rooms could benefit with some modernisation. The decorating blankets on the bed are not my cup of tea to sleep in. We had used one of the blankets from the shelves with the AC (very dated unit and requires updating, it also wasn't as powerful as some might prefer but suited us) on full at night as the average temperature was 31 degrees Celsius...not great for a Scot! The bathroom was adequate and also quite dated, however you were provided with a good pressured shower and a bidae if that is a requirement for you. A very basic hairdryer is provided. A dated telephone is provided, a TV, and kettle with complimentary classic teas and coffee sachets but interestingly no milk ha. You are provided with a mini fridge however sadly empty. Some bottled water would have increased my rating probably as you have at least provided the fridge, might as well stock it!I will say however, the room wasn't cleaned to a high standard. There was dust on surfaces including the hangers and some stray hairs on the bedding (thankfully not pubic hairs!), no bed bugs were noted! The bed was adequately comfortable with a firm/medium support. I have a bad back, shoulder and neck and they weren't aggravated any worse than normal so you should take that as review on its own!We had breakfast included. I don't think they provide lunch or dinner. The dining area was quaint with pleasent decor. The arrangement of the food was pleasing. The food itself was your run of the mill continental and was ok in my opinion. There are more sweet options than savoury just a few meats. I did not see any option for a hot breakfast however I didn't ask so I can't really comment too much. It certainly wasn't obvious. We were staying for 4 days so eating the same types of sweets didn't really appeal to me however just my opinion. The staff were very friendly and always immediately asked if what you'd like to drink (teas and arrangements of coffees).Overall I enjoyed the hotel, it could do with better cleaning of the rooms, some modernisation of the rooms and better range of breakfast options. Overall we were satisfied for the price we got in a great location. Good value for money, it was a three star and I wasn't disappointed nor posively overwhelmed.

Affordable hotel & accommodating staff - but no A/C in early summer & street WAY too noisy to open windows

    rating06 Jun 2024

Personally, I would not stay at this hotel again because of the lack of A/C in early summer (despite the website indicating there is A/C), and because the alternative of opening a window is not a viable option, because of the deafening street noise (the hotel is on the busiest, noisiest street in Como, and the noise like a race track with constant traffic all night long). However, I am still giving the hotel 4 stars, and it might be a place for someone else to consider staying, for a few reasons:- the staff was accommodating when I checked out early (due the above-mentioned lack of A/C and deafening street noise when window was open) and did not charge me for the remaining nights I'd booked.- the room itself is clean (if basic) and soundproof as long as you keep the window closed (but again, keep in mind the room is very stuffy/warm with the window closed even on a 22 C degree day) - the location (other than being on Como's busiest, noisiest street) is convenient - 10 min walk from train station/bus stop to other towns, and easily walkable to lake and center of Como- the included breakfast was goodThe staff did say they turn on the A/C later in the summer after the outside temperature goes above 26 or 27 C - but it was very hot and stuffy in the room when I was there with an outside temperature of 22-24 C, so if you are at all sensitive to heat, I'd be wary of staying here even once the A/C is operational, since it appears there is no individual control over the A/C temperature for guests in their rooms, so I'd be worried even when it is turned on, the hotel sets the A/C temperature at a warm setting that most Americans at least would find uncomfortably warm.
