Wonderful hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites

    rating01 Jan 2026

We visited Dolomites in September 2025 and we stayed in Ambra Cortina Hotel. It is a small luxury hotel in a convention location of Cortina d'Ampezzo. It is very cozy and unique experience for us. Their breakfast is out of this world. With their breakfast, we did have a good start for each day we stayed there. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is just right for us to visit all the must see attractions in Dolomites. Hotel Ambra Cortina , Proprietario at Ambra Cortina Hotel, responded to this review Dear Tony, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your lovely review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast, made with fresh products that vary every day.We would also like to let you know that we have recently built a brand new terrace, called Lanterna, where guests will be able to enjoy breakfast during their stay or simply enjoy a well crafted drink. We truly hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again soon!Locandiera & Staff

Quirky, but we enjoyed our stay

    rating21 Oct 2025

The hotel options in Cortina are limited, and from the research we did, the Ambra Cortina Hotel is the one that appealed most to us. In such a small town, they do have parking, and the location was very convenient as you are a one-minute walk from the town center. The staff were welcoming, and proved very helpful during our entire stay assisting us with making reservations and providing suggestions whenever we had questions about the area. The lobby is quirky as there isn't much room at the front desk and there is a fun bar and lounge area, but we never felt very comfortable sitting there. The property itself is beautiful and provides all the charm of a mountain chalet. But that is also the only complaint we had with the place... it is tiny. We loved our room. The woodwork was amazing and everything in it was beautiful. But there wasn't even room to open one suitcase. The breakfast was wonderful each morning offering a variety of foods for every taste. We enjoyed our stay here very much, and would stay here again if we returned to Cortina. Hotel Ambra Cortina , Proprietario at Ambra Cortina Hotel, responded to this review Dear Kurt,Thank you for choosing us, for understanding the nature of our boutique hotel, and for appreciating our warm welcome. We look forward to seeing you again for a more peaceful and longer stay. With gratitude, Locandiera and staff

    In the Heart of Cortina

    rating28 Jun 2025

We just finished a 5 night stay in this hotel. The location is perfect, our room was a very good size and very comfortable. The bathroom was modern with a great shower. The bed and linens were very comfortable. There also was plenty of room for our clothing, etc. There was a welcome fruit plate when we arrived and there is also a Nespresso machine and tea available in the room.Breakfast was excellent - there is a good selection of items on the buffet and you can also get eggs pretty much any way you'd like.I want to acknowledge the staff - every person we met was exceptional. I don't know all their names, but a big thank you to all of them. They all care about helping you and making sure you have a good stay. Special thank you to Michelle, who never seems to leave and is always asking how she can help. We wish you all the best. Excellent option in Cortina and the steam showers are a dream.

    rating09 Jan 2025

We are staying for four nights. I LOVE this hotel. It is small and intimate. Even the basic rooms are lovely. We were given an option of choosing from several rooms in the category we had booked. Theresias an upgrade for pay for a whirlpool tub, but there is no real shower then, so we passed. Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. Best linens. The bathroom small, but with a super fancy shower that I did not fully understand until midway through my trip. I liked the side spray feature that sprays water from the side at various heights in addition to overhead shower. But get this, if you press the blue button, the shower turns into a steam room sauna. I do not understand why the hotel does not explain this feature. It seems the hotel has excellent things they don’t make the guests fully aware of . The owner is a very friendly woman who interacts with guests. Grazie, Signiora! The staff are all very helpful and aim to please. Breakfast is a lovely affair. Nice buffet. Cooked to order eggs. This has been one of the most pleasant stays in a while. Now some feedback for the hotel to make this even more perfect. Why not a little nespresso machine in the room? And how about option for feather or down pillows? Just an idea.

Lovely Boutique-style Hotel in the Heart of Cortina

    rating24 Sept 2024

Our group of seven enjoyed a one-night stay at the Hotel Ambra after a long morning of traveling from Venice. Thankfully it was a reasonably short walk with our luggage from the bus stop to the hotel entrance. (The cobblestone streets being slightly tricky for the rollerbags). Our arrival at the hotel was painless due to the very friendly, professional staff. The rooms were not quite ready yet, but they offered us a welcome beverage and invited us into their funky lounge (with some unique, crazy wallpaper). During this relaxing break they gave us some ideas for nearby activities and eateries; they even directed a few group photos. The rooms themselves were a traditional style, but well maintained and upgraded, with plenty of modern touches. The only oddity was lack of a shower in my room - instead they had a large tub with a "wand" I could raise above my head. So I took a shower/bath in the morning; not great, but not terrible either.Breakfast was fantastic, with excellent coffee, eggs (cooked-to-order), yogurt, and an enormous variety of fruit, pastries, meats, and cheeses. I may have overdone it.The hotel location was stellar as well - only a block uphill from the Piazza Angelo and the nearby basilica. We were within easy walking distance of multiple restaurants, bars, and shops. But we were not here to buy anything. This would be our last stay in a hotel for a while. The next morning, with most of our luggage transferred elsewhere, we left the Ambra on foot with all we needed on our backs for the next nine days (except food and shelter). After grabbing a series of buses to Lago de Braies, we would begin our 80-mile hut-to-hut trek along the Alta Via 1 that runs north to south in the Dolomites. (But it sure was nice to get spoiled a little beforehand).
