Only went for Lunch, but not likely to return

    rating30 Jun 2017

Stopped for lunch, so review is only for the dining room experience, not the hotel rooms and other amenities.Unfriendly serverNot exceptional food, my husband found a bone in his Ragu sauce, after he found this bone,I'm lost my appetite to finish my pasta, and did not finish it.The second course , a pork chop was good, and tender, the cost was 18 Euros for this pork chop, with nothing else on the plate! Dessert selection not good, rice crispy squares, dry biscuit type cake, usually a breakfast favorite, chocolate pudding served in cheap plastic, disposable dishesNo price on menu, so assumption that it is an all inclusive menu, quite common in Italy. When we paid, the bill was itemized and we paid 7 for 2 apricots and a dry piece of biscuit cake. We would have excluded dessert if we knew it was an itemized bill, and saved 7 euros. If it had been a good dessert we would not hesitate to pay. We had coffee to finish our lunch and as usual it was served with a sweet, often a piece of chocolate. The chocolate they gave us with the coffee was an Easter egg chocolate! As we where out for a pleasant day, we just paid the bill and left. No need for discussions, and any unpleasantness. We just will not return. In one way it was a good experience because we a looking to return to this area in August and will choose another venue.Forni di Sopra is a beautiful place. Maurizio_Ferigo, Proprietario at Hotel Edelweiss, responded to this review Sorry about the incident but we realize that can happen, no one is infallible. What's most regrettable is that guests do not point out the issues at the moment but prefer to write reviews without comparison, because often the reason is in the middle. On the menu, like outside the restaurant, there are prices; as far as the fruit/desserts, our service is a buffet service and it may happen momentarily that it is unprovided of something, especially if the affluence is large. I repeat, if the situation is lifted at the time certainly can be repaired. If even the courtesy of the chocolate with the coffee creates a reason for review we do not find any words. We apologize again and if you will come back to Forni will be our welcome guest.

lovely italian village with high mountains

    rating16 Feb 2014

The staff was so nice. They were always there when we needed them. The room was clean and we had flat TV with sport channels (Sochi 2014), towels, linen, etc. Everything was clean. The breakfast was good, perfect for skiing whole day. This hotel is a very-very short walk from the ski lift. It has big parking lot and beautiful view to the mountains. Perfect for skiing in winter. In the village you can eat the best italian pizzas, pastas.

    Ski 2 Iztok

    rating28 May 2013

Hotel in end of the village, around 200m from the ski lift, otherwise fairly normal, average rooms, except in the annexe, which are newer and larger. Staff rather disinterested, the food is more or less bad. It was very little choice and the taste was not the best. Hotel has no further offers. Quite different is the ski area, which is divided into two parts and is connected by bus, which constantly circulates. Part of the three modern four-seater chairlift, there are many pleasant cottages and extensive terrain suitable for everyone. In the second part of a family ski area is three-seater and a lot of facilities for children, where every parent finds something interesting for themselves and their children. Also the town, is quite interesting and has much capacity, but due to the current situation they did not quite open. Forni di Sopra highly recommended for families with small children, but to choose the hotel which offer much entertainment for children.

Stay here only if you must...

    rating21 Sept 2012

The only plus is the view of the Alps as soon as you step into the small balcony...its stupendous. I booked a triple room for my wife, 11 year daughter and me, for 3 nights. The room was quite small- more like for two, definitely not three. The extra bed blocked the door to the balcony from opening. Every time we needed to open the balcony door, we had to move the bed, open the door and then bring the bed back to prevent the door from closing! There is no airconditioning or fan for cooling in the room, so if its warm you would have to keep the balcony door and the window open. Window has no stoppers and keeps closing...so I had to wedge paper to prevent this. There isnt any fridge, bar, microwave or coffee maker in the room. No internet wifi in the room, you have to go down to the restaurant to connect (its free). There's a hair dryer, telephone and TV in the room though. The bathroom's extremely tiny!! The shower is in the left corner as you enter and there's a glass door which sandwiches you in that corner so that water does not spray on the toilet when you shower. There's no exhaust in the bathroom, so you have to swivel the window open. The breakfast was the same every day with the same menu which was dull and unimaginative- juice, bread, croissant, cold cuts with tea/coffee. Parking is quite large. The owner charged us a higher room rent when checking out. I had to remind him what my internet booking rate was before he apologized and reduced it. Its family run and we had a tough time with the language. Only 1 lady (I believe his daughter) speaks English and she had to be called every time we needed or ordered something. A la carte food is excellent in the restaurant.Forni di Sopra is a dream-town where you must go. The charm stays forever. You have so many things to do : information which you can obtain from the 2 local tourist offices diagonally opposite each other. There's the Varmost chair lift- a wonderful experience up to the Alps, the horse riding on the lovely stallions (5 minute drive), the walk along the river/ forest, the many treks possible etc. You can use this town as a base to drive to Sauris and visit the ham factory there.
