Rick Steves reviewed almost 20 years ago - One of the worst hotel experience in Italy 2024

    rating03 Oct 2024

I read reviews. I trust reviews & I do not understand who is staying here & enjoying it. Dated, the least clean place I stayed in 2 weeks in Italy. Bathroom has strong sewer smell when running water/flushing. Stains/holes in sheets. Twin bed pushed together. Luciano Michel, Proprietario at Bellevue House, responded to this review Dear Guest,Sorry to read such a bad review. The first review classified " Terrible ". I hope that Onorio did not think the same way. You mention Rick Steves', well we are proud to be listed in that fine guide and we recently had the Editorìs inspection. Your booking was made through a travel agency and I have proof that we did specify the the double beds are formed by 2 twins well fasted together to make a " real " King size. Many couples prefer that bedding configuration. For the sheet issue, we have linen provideds by one of the best companies serving also 4 and 5 stars hotels, so if you have experienced that issue you could have said to us in the premises ( we are onb duty 24/24 ) and we would have replaced that sheet. I do not this we deserve you complaint but I think that a potential reader will better consider the wonderful reviews we have rather than yours. Sorry for your worst experience in Italy this year. Best, Luciano Michel, owner

    Would Stay Again

    rating18 Jun 2024

This hotel was recommended by Rick Steves in one of his travel books. We booked a room for three people, but it could have accommodated four. There was a couch, a queen size bed, and a twin bed. The AC worked great. The shower was small and awkward to enter. We had plenty of towels. The hotel has a small elevator, which you will appreciate the day of check in and out. We used the stairs most of the time. The room had a TV. The hotel is within walking distance from many attractions and the train station. The owner of the hotel was wonderful and took great care of us. He was able to recommend restaurants (one had the best gnocchi we've ever eaten) and shopping (Peruzzi leather store had tons of leather goods). Our room was clean and we felt safe. I highly recommend this hotel. If we ever return to Florence, we would stay here again.

    Wonderful stay in Florence

    rating03 May 2024

Lovely hotel on a wonderful street. Luciano and Susie were magnificent hosts, so helpful and friendly. the hotel faces an 800 year old pharmacy that now sells perfume, soaps etc. Next door is Vivaldino Bistro, run by the terrific Amanda. The best food of my whole trip!! The room was large, pleasant with a good bed and a modern bathroom. I had the best time!!

    Good value and location

    rating25 Oct 2023

This hotel is a great option, especially if you are using the train station the next day as we were. It's merely about a 5min walk around the corner. The room, Victoria, was large and generous. The bathroom was super as well! We loved the fact there were screens on the windows, which allowed us to open the windows without fear of the mosquitoes! The bed was very comfortable and the location was very good. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. They recently installed an elevator, a tiny and slow one, so if you are uncomfortable, you can always use the stairs. You need a code first to get into the hotel which will be provided to you. It's a charming place and the owners are very kind. We very much enjoyed our one night stay as the room was generous and there were ample outlets available in our room for charging our phones, which isn't always the case in older hotels. This is a Rick Steves recommended hotel and that is why we chose it. We weren't disappointed, especially since the location and price were very good!

Spacious, right in middle of City Centre, Roma Terminal nearby

    rating22 Sept 2023

The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Luciano was an excellent host. He recommended great restaurants nearby that are of excellent value. There is mineral water available. It is an old building. A bit of stairs to walk up and down. There is a small lift that brings your luggage up.
