  Close to the Tracks, Far From Memorable

  We stayed at the C Diplomat during a recent trip to Florence, drawn primarily by its location directly across from the city’s main train station, a convenience that proved valuable while hopping between cities. For travelers prioritizing rail access, it’s hard to beat. That said, the immediate surroundings leave something to be desired. While we never felt unsafe, the neighborhood lacked the charm and comfort one hopes for when stepping out into Florence.At check-in, the staff warmly welcomed us and offered an upgraded room for an additional €30 per day. The surcharge felt reasonable, so we accepted. Unfortunately, the “upgrade” failed to deliver. While the room was spacious, it felt noticeably dated and several maintenance issues quickly overshadowed its size. The air conditioning did not work, leaving the room uncomfortably warm despite sleeping with the windows open. Plus, there were constant mosquitoes roaming the room, which turned our stay into an itchy affair complete with more bug bites than souvenirs.The bathroom brought its own frustrations. A poorly designed shower and drainage issues routinely resulted in water spilling across the floor, making what should have been a simple refresh feel unnecessarily inconvenient.In the end, C Diplomat feels like a hotel chosen for practicality rather than pleasure. Its proximity to the train station is undeniably useful, but Florence offers far more compelling places to stay that better capture the magic of the city.   The hotel is in a great location for us.. right across the road from the train station... the room was good and had everything you needed. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was very very small.. but you are in Europe!   Our room was large and very clean. Location was excellent across the street from the train station. The trolleys were noisy but didn’t run all night. It was easy to find your way around with a little help from Google.   Hotel is just opposite the train station!Convenient, clean, good sleep in comfy bed, bathroom with uncomplicated shower and a very satisfying breakfast. All staff were friendly and I like to express my special thanks to Alessandra at the front desk for being helpful in storing our many luggages during checkout. She is really chill and friendly.
