Location

This city hotel enjoys a strategic location, just 5 minutes from Santa Maria Novella railway station, and right in front of St. Lorenzo Basilica. The hotel was built in 1500. The hotel has 19 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift.     We were booked into a standard room but it was very basic and not anything like the 4 star it claimed to be. Room tiny, poorly furnished, poor carpentry, stains on tiles. Asked to be moved and was after some heated debate with person in reception. Second room a slight improvement but still not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. Not value for money.

    Best feature of this hotel is its location--just a few blocks from the church of San Lorenzo and the Mercato Centrale, a short walk from the cathedral, the Accademia, the Uffizi, other tourist sites and the railroad station.The staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. We were there a bit before high season, so everything was not yet in gear and the situation seemed rather more relaxed.Our room was small and, meagerly furnished with little storage space for clothing. Wattage of the lighting was low, making the room dark at night. Outlets were few and far between, requiring a certain juggling act to charge two cellphones at once. On the other hand, the bathroom was new with nice facilities; hotel wifi was easy to access and worked well and our room had a little private balcony, which was a pleasant spot to sit.The breakfast buffet, served at a restaurant next door, was a standout. It was very reasonably priced (not much more than you would pay for coffee and a croissant at a cheap cafe) and had a wide variety of sweet and savory, cold and warm dishes--all of which were very tasty.

    Hotel Ginori Al Duomo has a great deal of character and charm. We received a very warm welcome from the reception staff, who went out of their way to make a fuss of our son for his birthday, which made him feel truly special. We stayed in a spacious suite (605) with impressive high ceilings that gave the room an airy, comfortable feel. The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable.The hotel’s location is ideal, just moments from Brunelleschi’s Dome, within walking distance of many excellent restaurants, and only a 10-minute walk from the tram station. Breakfast is served in the restaurant next door and offers a good continental selection, with particularly delicious pastries. If we return to Florence, we would happily stay here again.

    A warm welcome in the heart of Florence

    We had the best experience staying at this hotel. I booked it for 5 nights for my husbands birthday. We received such a warm welcome and extra touches thar made his birthday feel even more special. There's is an elevator, we were escorted to our room which was absolutely gorgeous. It was warm and bright with a very large and comfortable bed and immaculately clean. The breakfast had a huge selection of cold and hot options and again the waiting staff were very attentive. A very good location 15mins walk from the train station and all the main attractions are within a short walking distance. A special thanks to Guilia at reception, we will remember you fondly.
