  Think twice before booking. My colleague and I are teachers and wanted to take our class to Florence from Switzerland. Unfortunately there were train strikes all over Italy on monday 22.09, and floods in the North, so we couldn’t make it to Florence, despite spending hours on trains. We were booked for the entire week, and we informed the property as soon as it became clear we were going back, through the booking app. After trying to reason with the owner, a rather rude man, he claims he didn’t receive our message, which is rather dishonest, as we can prove we wrote (message is still on the app). They charged us for the entire week.

  Cute hotel but in need of Courtesy training

  This hotel was very cute on the outside. Looked almost like it was in a residential area, and the inside was old, but nice. However, there wasn’t a single person there that wanted to acknowledge that they spoke English. The room was hot and they refused to allow us to turn on the air conditioning, even though that was the one reason for renting this room. The beds were old and the comforters appeared to even be older than the mattresses. The hotel has potential, but definitely needs a bit of refurbishing with the decorations. When we were told the only way we could have air conditioning was if we paid for it, we refused and just asked for them to turn the ceiling fan on. However, no one could reach the chain that would ultimately be how the ceiling fan would be turned on. We met other people in the hotel from other countries who were experiencing the same issues so not just in an American issue. Some of the people were nice, but not the men who were working the front desk, which was a total turn off.

  I think that based on the variability of the posted reviews, the experience is likely highly dependent on which room the visitor receives. I was in the attic loft, room 111, and could not have been happier. A spacious, modern room, the air conditioning was excellent (which was very important given this year's heat waves). Very quiet. No fridge, but that wasn't a big deal. Checking in was a bit goofy. I arrived at noon and the front door was locked and no one was at the front desk. I managed to get in and was confronted by a cleaning lady who chastised me for coming before check-in time. I indicated that I did not care to check in and was happy to dump my bags and head out to Florence. All good. But someone with different expectations would be miffed. Breakfast is modest but perfectly adequate...much better than what one gets at a budget motel in the States. Again, expectations. If you expect a large, hot breakfast buffet, you need to check into a much more expensive property.

  The hotel is by no means upscale accommodation, but the room and the bathroom were clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Moreover, it's in a quiet neighbourhood. Overall, it was good value for money.

  I would not stay in this hotel again. The staff don’t know any English. The beds are very uncomfortable. The staff is very noisy in the morning so hopefully you like be woken up at the crack of dawn. There are no restaurants around and you have to travel if you want to do anything. You can not check in early so make sure you plan accordingly. Had a horrible stay so not recommend.
