  Needs dragging into the 21st century

  Our stay at San Giorgio left much to be desired. The hotel feels very out of date, with worn carpets, dark and dingy interiors, and a general lack of attention to detail. There’s an attempt at a shabby chic aesthetic, but it leans far more shabby than chic — tired furnishings and mismatched décor only added to the sense of neglect.The bathroom was full of cracks and questionable filler, which didn’t inspire confidence. Breakfast was limited and oddly managed by staff who seemed more focused on routine than hospitality. Coffee was offered inconsistently, with some guests served while others were overlooked — ourselves included.Practicalities were frustrating: there were hardly any plug sockets, making it difficult to charge phones or use hair straighteners. Noise was another issue — we were woken just before 8am by drilling and hammering from workmen, and the thin walls meant we could hear every movement from the rooms next door, especially in the bathroom.Overall, the experience lacked comfort and consideration. It’s not somewhere I’d return to without significant improvements.

  A Delightful Florentine Stay with an Unbeatable Location

  As we continued our travels, our search for a hotel in Florence led us to San Giorgio and Olympic, aiming for a central, authentic experience. Our desire for a family room that comfortably accommodated our group of four was met, and we were very pleased with our choice.The hotel boasts an unbeatable location that truly enhanced our Florentine experience. It's surrounded by countless walking sites, shops, and eateries, mirroring the convenience we appreciated in Rome. The magnificent Santa Maria Novella Cathedral is just steps away, and the main train station is a mere 7-minute walk, making arrivals and departures incredibly easy. Major landmarks like the Duomo Cathedral and the Accademia Gallery are also within a comfortable 10-15 minute stroll. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to explore the city.Our family quad room was notably spacious and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, a blessing during our summer visit, and the bathroom was super clean, which is always a top priority for us. We also appreciated the fast and constant free WiFi internet, which made planning our days and staying connected very easy.The breakfast buffet was a pleasant start to our days. While the cold cut selection was limited to just a couple of options, they did offer boiled eggs, which I appreciated. A refreshing juice made of A.C.E. (likely a mix of orange, carrot, and lemon/citrus, known for vitamins A, C, and E) was a unique and welcome addition. We found the breakfast offerings to be satisfying for our family.This hotel falls within the mid-range price bracket, and we found it to be well within our budget, especially considering it included breakfast for four.I'm giving San Giorgio and Olympic a 4-star rating instead of a perfect 5 due to a small, but rather perplexing, detail. The lobby featured a complimentary jug of detox water infused with herbs. While we could drink as many small cups as we wished, my son was not permitted to fill his small water bottle from it. This felt quite unusual, as we're accustomed to hotels generously allowing guests to refill personal bottles with such complimentary offerings. It felt a bit odd to have such a resource available but with this peculiar limitation, almost as if we were being watched when taking a cup or two.Despite this minor point, our stay at San Giorgio and Olympic was highly enjoyable. Its superb location, comfortable and clean accommodations, excellent WiFi, and good value make it a fantastic choice for families exploring Florence.

  We got attacked by BED BUGS

  Two words. BED BUGS. The place was grimy to begin with, staff not friendly, outdated decor with old looking orange bedspread. Should have trusted our instincts. We woke up around 5 am and turned on the lights to find something and there was a bed bug crawling on my wife’s sheet, and then one on the wall above it. Then another one on the curtain, everywhere. And full of blood. We complained to the manager and she got very angry and defensive “it it not hotel responsibility “. Travelers being bed bugs in. What ? It is your responsibility. Contacted Expedia and they said the hotel will not offer compensation and take no responsibility. How disgusting

  Small hotel in Florence

  Decent hotel to base in for Florence. Friendly staff, comfy bed, clean bathroom, clean towels daily, lovely powerful shower with plenty of hot water and good continental breakfast. 5 minute walk to station and within walking distance of all major sights. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area Would stay there again

  Beautiful little hotel in Florence

  This was a lovely little rustic hotel right in the heart of the action in Florence - 5 minutes walk away from restaurants and wine bars - 10-15 minutes from all major attractions in the city. Room was perfect, we had a balcony room that really made it! Breakfast was all you could ask for and the day staff were pleasant and welcoming. The night porter staff let the place down a little as everything seemed to be an inconvenient request, such as extra toilet paper, ice for the room for our water.Other than that I highly recommend and would start again.
