Location

The hotel is 430 metres above sea level. The imposing building separates the last Valdarno olive trees from the Vallombrosa ancient forest. It is just 30 minutes from Florence and 40 minutes from Siena and the Chianti area. The centre of Donnini, with its bars, clubs, bus station and shopping opportunities, is about a 10-minute walk away. The airports of Florence and Pisa are about 60 and 150 km away, respectively.

Facility

The hotel welcomes guests in a 3-storey building with 2 lifts and 65 rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out.     Our tour company booked us here. It is a beautiful villa with gorgeous views. Our bedroom was large, the only complaint is the A/C unit did not work. After seeing the wiring that leads to it, we sure understood why & did not try to use it again. This is a place to stay if you wish to do some small hikes & relax. There is nothing else around here; plan for breakfast & dinner at the villa. Also, pay attention as to how to get to your room or you could roam around for hours.

    Wonderful Villa in Tuscany hills

    Splendid villa, surrounded by the Tuscan hills. We came for our second wedding anniversary to have a romantic dinner, and honestly, our stay in Villa had been unforgettable. In the evening you will have a chance to contemplate may be the most magnificent sunset in your life sipping a glass of their local wine. The room was cute and small, but there was everything we needed. I should really say thanks to all the staff who were incredibly nice and friendly. We also had our small dog with us, who by the way, was so welcomed in this hotel too (and dog’s owners know it doesn’t happen very often). So I really appreciated that. Regarding the food, it was excellent, especially stake tartare was noted by my husband, he said he had never eaten anything like that in his entire life. We advise you this location!

    Quintessential Tuscan Experience! The views are stunning, and the cafe in the town of Donnini has some of the best pizza we had in Tuscany. Good: Parking onsite is convenient and easily accessible, breakfast buffet is great (especially the tiny pastries...so fresh!), grounds are relaxing, staff was very hospitable and provided a great map of the Sette Ponte Road (with 13 stops) for a single day road trip in the area that you are sure to enjoy!Bad: Furniture in our room could be updated (clean but felt a bit old/dingy), no soundproofing between rooms (its an old villa); pool was dirty so we passed on a swimOverall, this was a great value for the price, conveniently located, and had come personally recommended by a family we know that had such a good experience they made a 2 night stay into a full week.

    Payment Issues and Apparent Discrimination in the Restaurant

    We had an unsettling dining experience at the restaurant last week. We were surprised when a waiter informed our group that only cash was accepted, especially after seeing another guest pay by card. This inconsistency was poorly explained, which increased our discomfort.Moreover, the same waiter indicated that our tour's driver was allowed to pay by card because he did not appear to be Chinese, suggesting discriminatory practices. A similar complaint found on Google reviews indicates that this might be a recurring problem.The two stars are awarded solely for the supportive receptionist who acknowledged our concerns, in stark contrast to the overall disappointing handling of the situation. We hope the management addresses these serious issues promptly.

    We had a week long vacation in Tuscany and stayed in three different hotels. This hotel was by far the biggest (and only) disappointment through the trip. How did they managed to get the 4 stars is beyond my understanding but it’s a 2 star hotel at the best. First of all some good things: location, very lovely and helpful staff, adequate breakfast.On the negative, I don’t think I have ever in my whole life stayed in a hotel so dirty and badly maintained. If you read comments 10 yrs back saying that hotel was dirty and in need of the renovation. Well, in 10 yrs it has only gotten worse.Everything in our room was either dirty, disgusting, broken or just inadequate. Walls were dirty and had holes, bathroom had probably last renovation at least 20 yrs ago. Carpet had stains and dirt all over. I didn’t even feel safe to walk on it in socks. I have stayed in old hotels so many times but never have I seen anything like that anywhere, not in Italy, not in any other country.And there wasn’t any glasses in the room either. Only plastic cups in the bathroom, in a 4* hotel. Seriously?!Our room had a view of the courtyard, so we didn’t even have any view from the window. But it didn’t really matter, since we tried to spend as little time in the hotel and room as possible.I am glad that we stayed only two nights and that our next hotel was like from another dimension compered to this one.
