Perfect place to stay while you taste

    rating25 Jun 2025

Stay here. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, and cool. The grounds are absolutely breath-taking - take a book or three and sit on the patio overlooking the Tuscan countryside or the pool area surrounded in lavender and rosemary. Fill your glass with local wine from the wine machine. This is a beautiful charming place to unwind after tasting.But... request a room overlooking the grounds (back) and not the town square - it is noisy every single night of the week until well after midnight. The shutters on the windows certainly help, but we still needed earplugs.

    Beautiful location, friendly staff

    rating18 May 2024

Beautiful hotel overlooking the vineyard it sits on. The grounds are welcoming with lots of seats to grab a wine and admire the view. Our room was generous and had a large balcony. Sadly it was a bit cold to enjoy that or the pool, but I imagine later in the year it’s incredible. Nice little shop selling their wines, olive oil and other products. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Restful view hotel in charming village

    rating30 May 2023

Lovely hotel in a charming small Chianti village. Big draws are the lovely terrace and delightful pool area with view. Also to recommend is the comfy room with everything but tv & the generous breakfast served on the terrace. Staff is welcoming and helpful, and the price is reasonable for all one receives.

    Le Pensione Vigna-trashio

    rating21 Dec 2022

This hotel is a horrible roadside stop, that warrants absolutely no notice. We were expecting the other location, and wanted answers. We entered the hotel and spoke to the receptionist Giovanni who was fairly useless, he could not answer simple questions about the hotel such as “when did it move to this location?” and “how many locations does this hotel currently have?” and “does this hotel still have a tasting room?”We wanted a refund for the later part of our stay, but this proved difficult to obtain. Giovanni was not empowered to give us our discount, and had to get in contact with the “director” Eric Verolieneulen in order to do that. Giovanni attempted to unsuccessfully call Eric, but was only able to do so significantly later at night. We wanted to speak to Eric ourselves, but Eric repeatedly refused to talk to us on the phone. Apparently being the “Director” means being able to hide behind his employees and ignore actually doing his job. This hotel should be avoided, they are using their nicer location to scam people into thinking this location is an upscale stay. There are significantly nicer and cheaper options in the region that can be found very easily. I give this a hotel only one star for its sub par location, its unpleasant building, its useless employees, and its owner who has ruined a good thing. Profilo Reception, Marketing at La Pensione di Vignamaggio, responded to this review Dear AnusTart251We appreciate your feedback and we, as a team, are sincerely sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. Our manager was not available that day to address your concerns and we do apologize for this. Please have a careful look at our website and on booking.com where all available services provided by LA PENSIONE are listed, including a Google Maps link (‘find on map’) clearly showing our location. Our hotel faces on one side the charming quaint piazza of Panzano and on the other side offers panoramic views on the olive groves and a kidney-shaped pool nestled between lavender and rosemary. We wish you had expressed your doubts whilst checking-in rather than on checking-out: we would have been more than happy helping you finding a more suitable accommodation. Please note that Vignamaggio is a 400-hectare estate and offers a wide range of accommodation options catering for all taste & budget, as we want to be as inclusive as possible. Do not hesitate to contact us in the future: we’ll find you a more suited option. Kindest regardsNeri and The Vignamaggio Team

Former Hotel in Panzano, Now Part of Vignamaggio Empire

    rating18 Sept 2021

The Hotel Sangiovese was set "on the corner of the tiny square of this small, unspoilt Tuscan town stands Anne-Marie and Ueli Bleuler-Staerkle’s hotel; from the back it commands a ‘tremendous view of distant hills and mountains’. (or so a review once read. Then in 2019 it was sold to the growing empire of Villa Vignamaggio, the historic villa set in ancient vineyard a few miles outside of Greve. In addition to this hotel, they also acquired a few other properties in the area, but in terms of affordability, the hotel, now known as La Pensione di Vignamaggio is the most reasonably priced. Understand that this is perhaps more than five miles away from the villa, set on a tiny piazza in the nearby town of Panzano, famous for its market on Sundays and the butcher shop of Dario Cecchini and more. The hotel rooms are nicely appointed, having been repainted and refurbished when the new team assumed ownership. Service is capable and friendly, and the location is ideal for walking to any of the nearby restaurants and shops, or for immediate access to the SS222, Chiantistrada, to Siena and other Tuscan towns.(N.B. although this review claims my travel was Oct. 2020, that is incorrect, but Tripadvisor only provides a dropdown menu that fails to show any earlier dates.)
