Great location, friendly staff but rooms could be a bit cosier

I stayed here for 5 nights on a recent visit to Genoa and, overall, really enjoyed my stay. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was good (I paid extra as it wasn’t included in my booking) and the hotel is superbly situated within minutes of the main attractions. The only small complaint was that the rooms are a bit spartan and not that cosy. Besides that it was great and I’d definitely recommend.

The location was perfect, close to everything. A 2-minute walk to the Piazza De Ferrari. Right by the piazza is the stunning (Church of Jesus) definitely worth seeing. We booked the King Jr. Suite with City View. Comfortable king bed, large bathroom, no noise. The large balcony and view was absolutely gorgeous, however, the room needed to be repainted, a disappointment considering the high price we paid for the room. There were dirt marks and chips on most of the walls. The breakfast buffet was excellent; hot & cold foods, smoked salmon, fruits, pastries, etc. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

I was disappointed. The room wasn't to my standards. One of the pillows smelled like pee. They did not honor my request to have late checkout that was pre reserved. It wasn't up to the best western standards. It seems unusual that a guest would choose to sleep with a pillow in those conditions without informing our reception team, which is available 24 hours a day.Regarding the late check-out, our records show that your request had been approved and that you were granted a late check-out until 12:30 p.m. instead of the standard 11:00 a.m. We would have had no issue honoring this arrangement; however, according to our records, you checked out voluntarily at approximately 11:00 a.m.We would also like to point out that, upon your arrival, you were upgraded to a room in a higher category than the one originally booked, at no additional cost, as a gesture to make your stay even more comfortable.We are genuinely sorry that, despite these efforts, your overall impression of your stay was not a positive one. Best location in the city. This hotel is right in the middle of Centro. You can walk to everything in just minutes from this hotel.
